What age group are we looking at to entertain Kate? Do you have cereal boxes, loo roll tubes, egg boxes etc you could 'liberate' to produce a handsome transformer/ robot/ rocket/ racing car, with the help of a bit of sticky tape & copious amounts of tin foil?
Or there's devising a weather station is science is an interest; football league table [if you don't mind them using your poota]; bit of gardening, with their own little bit to be nurtured--that can become a competition to see whose carrots/ sunflower/ lettuce grows first/ biggest?
Are there any local parks or walks, that you could take a little picnic of a piece of fruit & a bottle of squash, then draw the flowers & you have to identify them when you get back. Research local history? Find items from around the house that begin with every letter of the alphabet?Give them a notebook & ask them to index your dvd/cd collection?

BigMummaF - Wow! You truly are amazing :):):)
Sadly, he is 9-going-on-19, and a proper city boy - he runs rings round me! He will tolerate a little bit of gardening, and the occasional bike ride, but he is used to having loads of mates to play with at home. We spent the afternoon at a local park with my best friend and various kids we acquired, lovely in the sunshine. Was nice to prise him away from the beloved disney channel (if I ever bump into Hannah Montana I may have to strangle her with my bare hands!). I did give in to the endless requests for ice-cream though, ruining my NSD - grrr! Had a small grocery spend as well, but that really should be it until the weekend. Feel free to slap me if I spend any money before then!

OOh coffeeholic, dont envy your dentist trip - its like visiting the devil (and having to pay makes it twice as bad!)

jintyb - well done on the NSD! Creative cooking is great fun, we've had the odd mishap but mostly things turn out better than expected :)

Slowlyfading - will pop over and have a look at your shiny new diary in a minute :)

Back to work for me tomorrow after a lovely sunny week off - only 5 days left at work (12 in total) until we get married though!! (i am totally terrified!!) Hopefully the wedding day will be a NSD though, as we've paid for it all in advance :rotfl:

Tough day, but i came home for lunch to regroup, which meant i could forage for chocolate in the "naughty drawer" rather than spending & sadly enough an episode of Judge Judy over lunch even sent me back to work smiling!!!! :D

Ebay posting day tomorrow, but everything's going in one go, so will be the only one this week & definitely going to do it at dinner to keep me out of the supermarket.

Still seething at the insensitivity of men (well one in particular), but feeling too tired to have another sleepless night & i can guarantee that the bit of ivy i attacked with a saw is hurting far more than me!!!!!

Big hugs to you all for the support :grouphug:
Well done for sticking to your intentions today, butdoineedit?. You could be forgiven for going off the rails completely today, but you didn't and you should give yourself a pat on the back:j.... The next few days will probably be difficult but we're all thinking about you - if you need a rant, you know where to come. Here's another hug to keep you going..

That poor ivy though... but better that than sticking an axe through someone's shoulderblades, I guess;)

    Take care

    Hi lovely NSDers
Can’t believe how well everyone is doing this month....

Ooohhh.... another newbie joining today... welcome to:
mothershipton: :)welcome to the NSD challenge, signing you up for 4 now and well done for the 1 you’ve already got.:j It’s hard when you first start this challenge, you think you’ll never get any NSDs, surprising how quickly you get into the swing of it though ... keep coming back here if you need any encouragement, we’re a friendly lot (if slightly insane at times);)

Well done to the following for new NSDs:
gettingthereslowly: :jwell done for no 4 - and the low spending weekend, you’re doing great!
slowlyfading: don’t do it... you want the record for the highest number of NSDs in a row:cool:..... yay.. and you’ve got it. Well done for no 11:j
Trinny: well done for no 4 so far:j - you’re doing brilliantly. Think you’re having the same problems the rest of us are, the odd pound here and there just mounts up... A spending diary works for a lot of people, have you tried that? Keep coming back here and updating regularly, it really does seem to help. Good luck:)
LadyfromVenice: :j well done for no 7 - you’re doing really well. Hope you enjoyed the day
elfen: not only have you managed no 8 :j- but gym and essay as well - that’s brilliant.:j Fingers crossed for an LSD for you tomorrow
Treacly: well done for no 8:j - you’re doing really well. I’m sure you’ll get to 11 this month, there are lots of days left yet...
jintyb: glad your dog loves the new blanket. Baby hat is a good thing to start with really, it’s small and you’ll finish it quickly... Knitting will definitely keep you away from the shops and, an added bonus, away from picking at food as well... gotta be good I reckon. Well done for no 6 today,:j half way there now.... Oh dear to OH having labrynthitis,:( hope it clears up soon
mookiepook: well done, you’re doing brilliantly,:j no 3 already..... when you need chocolate, you need chocolate, no stopping there...
Surfbabe: you’re on a roll now, well done for no 4..:j keep going..
Everhopeful09: another one on no 4 :j- well done.. and yes, you will make your target this month, I can feel it in my bones (or maybe that’s just the arthritis playing up;)...)
karmachilovething: wow 2 in a row..:j well done, you’re definitely on a roll now, keep going...
butdoineedit?: well done to you for no 4 today,:j that’s brilliant, you deserve a big pat on the back for getting through today so well:j
saorsie: another one doing brilliantly -:j no 8 now - well done!!
urg123: well done for no 6 :j- forgetting purse is definitely the way to go here..
sarahb7538: well done to you for no 6:j - more than halfway there now!
Dorastar: well done for no 3 :j- being back at work has to have some advantages, I guess..
Blimusoreilly: well done for no 6 :j- more than halfway there now as well... keep going

    And hello to everyone else:
cw18: grrrrrrrrrr to DS and the milk ruining your NSDs. Have you thought about freezing some and getting it out half way through the week? I do that and it’s great, I use skimmed and it doesn’t last as long as full-fat or semi, found I was throwing loads away, I don’t anymore. It definitely would have been rude not to stock up on those lovely dark M@rs, especially as AF got them in specially for you;).....
pure dead dopey: love todays putdowns, especially the Glasgow kiss one.:D.. We could put a post of them at the start of next months’ thread (that is, if BigMumma agrees, of course) and use them if we get any more trolls wandering onto here:D... confuse the life out of them... Oh dear to no NSD today,:( but I’m laughing at the idea of you being assaulted by boxes of cakes - maybe the aliens were throwing them at you to get their revenge for you starving them?
    PS: what does “gonnaenodaethat” mean??
    BigMumma: feather-lined nix - now there’s a thought;).....
Little Mis-spent: Oh dear to DH ruining your NSD on Sunday:(.... still got lots of days to go though, I’m sure you’ll make your target
anonymoose: I really shouldn’t be saying this to you but..... have a lovely day shopping and hope you get your outfit sorted out:)
positivelypurple: :wave:hello, good to see you back again.. Wow you got very organised this morning - well done... fingers crossed you managed an NSD today:)
katenut: fingers crossed you managed an NSD today - seems BigMumma had lots of suggestions for keeping step-son busy, hope they worked - oops ice cream required I see... Hope your first day back at work goes OK... only 4 more after tomorrow..:)
rachelmk: oh dear to a spending day,:( but £4 isn’t too bad - well done for keeping it that low:)
coffeeholic: :(:(dentist and prescription today :(:((don’t get me started on free prescriptions though...) and yay to no fillings..... Fingers crossed for an NSD for you tomorrow:)
Keiss 21: oh dear to no more NSDs, but you’re sounding very organised now so hopefully some more by the end of the week, fingers crossed:)
JES-F1: well, it was nearly an NSD, that’s better than nothing... hot sausage roll... I’m having hallucinations now..... Good luck for the rest of the week:)
jet77: keeping my fingers crossed you get your 2 in a row - don’t forget to let us know how you get on:)
boultdj: well done for a very low spend day - seems like you got lots of bargains there:)

Lots of posts again today, love reading them all..

Another one for me today as well - I’m frantically trying to make up for my mad spend day last week... up to no 9 now..:j

Off to update the front page again.

    ‘night all, see you tomorrow

Sunday and Monday are spending days for me, I'm afraid - perhaps if I pay up-front (pay for 5 and get 1 week free) at slimming class, I can change Mondays to NSDs - it will have to wait until I can afford to pay up-front like that - maybe one to sort out for next month

Should be NSD's for me for the rest of the week - until Friday that is - I will report in tomorrow Spoony :):)

NSD no 9 for me today. Had a LSD on Friday as had to buy some salad/fruit/veg for the weekend but managed to not buy anything else. This challenge is fantastic. It is actually making me think about what I spend my money on ... and at the moment, I can't believe I don't want to spend anything. Had to buy a new garden hose and jet power wash yesterday and was upset that I had to spend money. Can't believe I am the same person and am actually enjoying not spending money more than I use to enjoy spending it. Thanks to everyone on this thread for keeping me motivated.:T

Hi everyone - just to say have a great day everyone. :)I finished my knitted hat yesterday, I'm very proud of it as its the first actual wearable item Ive ever knitted! And,yes, Spoon, knitting does keep me from picking at food and not spending. Although ,I ordered a big ball of wool from Ebay for my next ones but it was only £1.40 for a big ball and that will keep me going for ages. Also the pay pal payt for it will come off on Thurs which is a spend day for me anyway - see, Im in the NSD zone.:j Hoping for another today as Im working and have my lunch sitting in the fridge ready to go!:)
