I spent about £18 yesterday in Mr T's, Mr S's, Farm Foods & the Co Op.
I have only £1.30 left in my budget to see me until Monday and really not sure if our milk will last to then! This has beena slightly better month however than previous months & I do still have a lot of food in the freezer, including 3 joints of meat.Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -
Popped into Mr M for some of the bargain nappies. They didn't have any and stupidly I took Mr Gin with me who filled the trolly with stuff. Over £6 on a monkfish tail just for him? I could scream or sob, not sure which. Will update my total when I can face the receipt.0

Didn't have a Chinese takeaway last night after all. DS and DD2 wanted a McD and DD1 wanted a KFC - that's their last bit of expensive junk this month!
Not very OS or very frugal but me and OH had carrot and lentil soup and toast so wasn't too bad.
On the plus side DS and DD1 didn't need anything done at the dentist - great relief all round - especially me!!
I spent another £7.38 today on basics and have £69.38 left - 84% through budget. That leaves me £7.70 a day. Not bad but something's bound to happen!
Have a good dayAugust Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
If it were me Gin, think I'd scream now then sob in the dock as I was giving evidence for attacking my OH with a lump of fish; you could pass it off as a new method of "batter-ing":rotfl:Shouldn't laugh really, as The Offspring can be as bad so I don't take them unless absolutely necessary
Although No2 did call to ask if a family-sized [branded!] chicken pie reduced to 72p would be acceptable for that evening's meal while shopping with a friend, so things could change
Around £45 spent yesterday as I paid a call to a discount store & they had a good few bargains--bacon bits that are probably in a 450g pack for 99p, ham ends the same & the newly-found black bean sauce on clearance at 4 jars for a quid :T A few doggie treats & the value sandwich bags in Will-co [14p a bag & currently 4-4-50p] & some bargains in MrM made up the rest as all three are a fair old car journey for us & we don't visit them very often.
Whoopsied shoulder of english lamb tonight, so I'd best get a shimmy on & make up the yorkshire pud batter!

Took half a day off work and went to the garden centre with my Mum this afternoon. Didn't find any of the plants I wanted to replace those that were killed off in the winter though.
Called at Farmfoods on the way back and got two Hovis loaves for £1.00 (one for me and one for Mum) so will add 50p to my signature.
Got an email from Sainsburys saying I hadn't shopped with them for a bit and giving me £10 off a £50 shop so I've ordered for the 1st May (new month). I've found if I rotate around the supermarkets they all send me something like this every few weeks.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

Does everyone else include wine? becuase otherwise, close to £100.00 aweek for two adults is far too much.
Hi Linda,
There's only me, OH and two cats in our household (GD visits one night a week). We don't include wine in our GC as we have £15 pocket money each per week and we use that to buy whatever we please which is usually beer for my OH and I might get a bottle of wine or bottle of martini and lemonade for myself out of my pm. The only rule is that when its gone its gone.
We include everything for the household with the exception of special diet food for the cats - their whiskas gets counted in the budget. But I'm still only in my second month so I may adjust further down the line and include the special diet too. We'll see how it goes.
I agree with greent - it's your challenge and you include what you want to include. Oh by the way takeaways are such a rarity - OH makes better Chinese food than we can buy - that I probably wouldn't include it if we had one.
OK, I've just updated my signature to include the spends on Saturday last. I'm quite pleased actually as I thought we would be getting a lot closer to budget but we've survived and have had four NSD in a row which I'm quite chuffed with. Nine days still left for me in the April GC and just over £100 left so we may well reduce again next month.
Tomorrow though I have to go to MrT to stock up on quite a few things - Allinsons seeded flour is gorgeous and we go through it very quickly - as OH has been writing a list out for the last few days. We'll see if I'm still as pleased after that!
Take care all and keep up the amazing work,

Stopped by Lidl on my way home with my list which I'd already written Sainsbury's prices on and managed to save £1.85 on just 3 items! Their nice looking chorizo is half the price of Sainsbury's basics pepperoni, so my HM pizza this week will be dead posh!
My only question is, when at the same time of day I can fight for a parking space at Sainsburys, why on earth is Lidl empty? Should I keep it a secret so I can shop in peace?
