Lillibet - if you go to see a healer they don't charge very much - some are even free! In particular if there is a 'spiritualist church' near you there are often people who are newly trained there who give treatments for free.
For many helping people feel better and cope better is enough.
Failing that, when the new term starts up perhaps it might be worth making enquiries at your local college about having treatments there? They often have many reduced price treatments - top to toe (hairdressing through to reflexology, lol.
Good on you for facing your bank accounts today.
I really need to do mine - but get tied up in knots whenever I try :( Whenever I think of it I get the overwhelming urge to sleep!
Lol - and as if by 'magic' as I type this the 'First Plus' advert is on in the background claiming it can solve all my problems.... lol.

Thanks Lilibet - I'll check out the AA webiste...will be taking a charity shop book to read in the queue - but HOme Office website is saying nothing is allowed in pockets - all you will be allowed to take on board is:-

    Hand luggage
All cabin baggage must be processed as hold baggage and carried in the hold of passenger aircraft departing UK airports.
The only items that may be taken through airport security search points and in to the cabin, in a single (ideally transparent) plastic carrier bag, are the following:
pocket-size wallets and pocket-size purses plus contents (for example money, credit cards, identity cards, etc - handbags are not allowed.
travel documents essential for the journey (eg, passports and travel tickets)
prescription medicines and medical items sufficient and essential for the flight (eg, diabetic kit), except in liquid form unless verified as authentic
    spectacles and sunglasses, without cases
contact lens holders, without bottles of solution
for those travelling with an infant: baby food, milk (the contents of each bottle must be tasted by the accompanying passenger) and sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight (nappies, wipes, creams and nappy disposal bags)
female sanitary items sufficient and essential for the flight, if unboxed (eg, tampons, pads, towels and wipes)
    tissues (unboxed) and/or handkerchiefs
keys (but not with electrical key fobs)
Nothing may be carried in pockets.

What about stuff you buy in duty free? Curious how they are getting around this?? Do they take it off you at the gate & put in the hold?

OK, I've taken a deep breath & I've done my online banking, although accounts are all a little low they aren't as hopeless as I feared, and I have paid all outstanding bills & given hubby the go-ahead to get car serviced & mot'd. I just have to be really really really strict with myself from now on. I think the situation is salvagable, although I am really regretting agreeing to spend so much of our savings on a patio when we can't afford to replace those spent savings:p

OK, now off to investigate holistic therapy.....;)

As far as I just heard on local radio, there is no duty free at the moment... all shops in Manchester Airport are closed.

We are back from my birthday treat day........had a really nice time at Ryton, it has changed quite a lot since our last visit some 10 years ago, very interesting to see the different methods of growing and the results of trials.

I packed up a picnic lunch which saved us quite a bit....a sandwich was £4.95, how can they justify that cost, even organic???????? A packet of crisps in the shops 66p. Did not look at anything else.

We then went for a little ride round, involving the canal and looking at boats, I love the canal, would have loved a boat, but no way could we ever afford to buy one, I love to see them chugging up the waterways.

OH is cooking supper tonight, fish, chips peas, bread and butter and bananas with home made yogurt.

A possible trip to the allotment tomorrow then I have to get on with my craft work.......

Thank you to all of you who sent me birthday wishes.......good job not all the cakes were real.................... I would never have been able to eat them all!!!

    Hello Everyone

The latest I've heard - I work on a news desk - is that ALL hand luggage no matter what it is has been banned from flights. Parents with babies must try any baby drinks infront of officials.

Easyjet have cancelled all flights in and out of London airports

Not heard anything official about duty free, but I have heard rumours it's being affected

I've spoken to my boss who's going to "address the issues" I've got. Told him I'm starting to feel like I want to resign and he's suddenly lept into action!!

    Hi All,

I've had a really productive afternoon, I had a complete "flylady" episode in our bedroom. I've moved all the furniture around so the bed now takes full advantage of the view. Hoovered it to within an inch of its liife, dusted everywhere. Sorted through the clothes in the wardrobe and put some pics on the walls. Its looks a bit roomier now weirdly enough which is nice as it is a small room.

I've also made a vegetable lasange for dinner which is bubbling away nicely now and should be done by 7pm.

So much for my lazy day, tomorrow is playgroup too so no chance of a relaxing morning.

Glad you had a lovely day Tootles, I am in agreement with you about the ludicrous (sp?) prices in places when you go for a day out. Much better to try and take your own IMHO.

Hope everyone else has had a lovely day.
