    Queenie This is it.

    100ml yoghurt
1/2 cup sugar (recipe said 1 cup but I used half and it was sweet enough)
    100g melted butter
    2 eggs
    grated zest of 1 lemon
Mix it all up and add 1 1/2 cups SR flour. Bake in mod oven until done. Mine took around 3/4 hr. Used a round cake tin.

I iced mine with lemon icing. Nice easy recipe. Never tried it before but will do it again.

My yoghurt was sweetened with honey & passionfruit and it was fine so you could use any flavour or just vanilla. It was just a way of using up the yoghurt as I found this batch too tarty for my liking.

Ageandjo Can I come too, you could paint my nails. Once you cut and manicure them of course. :D
Better go and wake DH up and eat tea.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning! :hello:

((((Hugs)))) to all that need them.

Have another day of waiting in for a delivery and guessing how much more of the bathroom will be delivered! It appears it is being delivered in instalments  We have a bath up and running so far - nothing else so thank goodness we have a downstairs loo!

Managed to sit down and alter my living room curtains at last (they needed 4 inches taking off them) and have been up for 3 years! :o

Would love to get in the kitchen and do some baking but will have to just use the breadmaker for now as we had 3 different water leaks  (bathroom right above kitchen) last week.

Good news is the conservatory is finished! :j We moved in on Friday after a trip to Ikea for a cheap sofabed. The rest of the furniture we scraped together from around the house but I am really pleased with it, so lovely to sit out there and read and sew.

Once all this work on the house is done we will have to pull in our belts and start to seriously save as we would love to be mortgage free in 5 years time, seems a bit like a folorn hope at the moment but will check out the mortgage free wannabe threads for ideas.

Breakfast - Wholemeal toast and honey plus strong coffee
Lunch - Leftover spaghetti, pesto, vegetable mix
Dinner - Salmon parcels and steamed courgettes and brocoli

Got to go and list some more books for Amazon now.

    Catz x

  • Hi all

I am more a lurker but I do post occaisionally. I am off work today and I am going to visit my dgs.

Queenie - my son (16 yo) had to learn to cook very quickly earlier this year when I broke my foot as for the first couple of weeks I found it very hard to get around the kitchen as I had a very heavy cast on which I couldn't put my weight on. He enjoyed it but now I think the novelty has worn off. I think that I will suggest that he cooks once a week.

(((hugs))) to all who would like one, and thanks to Tootles for letting me see her allotment pics.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.
  • Morning all.

Nothing much going on today just in w**k:mad: but I am going to take the bull by the horns this evening and see if it helps kick start me.

Off home this evening and the plan is to clean the house from top to bottom and get some paperwork done.

I'm also going to join in on the flylady challenge to see if that helps as well.

Anyway - back to it but I hope you all have a great day :D

    Good morning all

You all sound so busy today.

Not working today - making the most of it as I've got a hectic Wednesday and Thursday with 13 hour days and an extra 3 kids each day.....

I'm off to Tides today (Queenie - didn't you go there recently???) - It's a swimming pool with wave machine etc, never been before so hope it's good. Then it's fish and chips on the seafront before coming home for an afternoon of crafting.

It's the anniversary of when we met on Friday - 6 years - where did that go?? And it just so happens that we have no kids for a few days, so DH being all nice and romantic has booked us a hotel for Saturday night, we're going shopping (of the window variery) and to the cinema on Saturday afternoon followed by a meal in the hotel restaurant......can't wait. :j

Anyway - hope you all have a great day - don't wear yourselves out.

Morning all :hello: :grouphug: to all. Still to asleep to read through the thread :o

I won't say good morning as I'm not in a good mood today. Got back from IL's yesterday to find the fridge-freezer has broken down  I've not had to chuck anything except for some eggs which were BB 14 July anyway and we can't use the 3 packs of ice-pops I had in there for this week  Changed the fuse, plugged something else in to check the socket was still working but still nothing from the fridgefreezer. Rang Comet Insurance (we took out an extended warranty on it when we bought it in 2002, fortunately it doesn't expire until next year :D ) and they said the earliest they can come out if Wednesday which is an all day call out between 8am-6pm  I've had to put everything I can into cool bags and cook the rest. So last night for tea we had
    1. Roast potatoes (Aunt Bessies, from my nans freezer clearout)
    2. HM Slush Puppies out of the icepops - but there is only so much you can have of them :rotfl:
    3. Quiche x 2 which I bought with DD last week for lunches all this week
    Plus I've made up
    1. Fish pie using salmon & white fish fillets and a packet of instant mash Grandad-IL gave us yesterday :T Put some parmesan on the top to crisp up as well - Will probably have this for our lunch today.
    2. Fruit Crumble - I cooked fruitsalad which I had frozen, drained it off and will put a crumble mixture on it ready for pudding tonight.
    3. Beef/vegetable pie - using up some beef, veg from the garden (See story about that in a minute), some frozen veg, and shortcrust pastry I keep in the freezer "just in case"
    4. Bubble and Squeak - AKA all the packets of frozen veg that had just about defrosted, pureed :rotfl:
All this is stored in cool bags in the kitchen ATM with bottles of frozen water which are fast defrosting, plus towels on the top to try and keep it all cool.

Oh, and as I was dishing out the veg into the pie dish I noticed something brown in it. Turned out to be a piece of wood in with the cabbage. I thinks me sees an email to Asda about that since it was their own-brand cabbage ;)

Also, when I went out in the garden to see how things were EVERYTHING has been muched to death by caterpillars  I had no cabbage, peas, lettuce and my broccoli looked like doilies  Decided to take out the plants that looked like they wouldn't survive or were just stalks and found maggot like things in the soil  I've harvested what I can, binned 2-3 black binbags of foliage and caterpillers then harvested some tomatoes which I have a glut off, trouble is they're all green  I'm thinking of giving in when it comes to growing our own stuff as the same happened last year as well  I'll try growing the remaining seeds I have, although it's late for alot of them, and if I fail then I fail, if I don't then at least I haven't thrown the seeds out :rotfl:

Oh well. Time to get started on the washing loads for today, and get a couple of ebay items parcelled up which sold on BIN :jLater

Good morning all. I don't get to post much these days but I do follow all the gossip!
I'm having a lazy day today because my joints are not good, I will enjoy pottering about outside with the dog and he will enjoy the attention.
I'm feeling really guilty because Catznine mentioned shortening her curtains. I have the same problem, I bought the wrong size and they are about 15 inches too long, but we've got used to them now and I've convinced everyone that they are trendy like that. I have a friend who is not convinced, she thinks I should get on and shorten them so I told her to do it for me if she doesn't like them.
Anyway the sun and coffee pot are calling so I'm off to play.
Good thoughts to all who are having a bad time just now.
    Have a nice day.
