Afternoon Guys
Thanks for the nice posts everyone:D
All my posts seem to be so depressing ATM:rolleyes: I will try and keep this one on a more positive note.
Hospital visit done and DD decided that she wanted to go the market.
Bagged some bargains. Mostly locally grown, we bought a huge cauliflower, 4 very large baking spuds, big bowl of new potatoes, big bowl of carrots, 3lbs apples, 8 bananas (not local), 7 naval oranges (not local), large cabbage, 5lbs of spuds, bowl of brussels, bowl of large plums, cucumber, toms and lettuce. All this for £9.50 and she threw in a large box to put it in:rotfl: so have got OH to keep it all in the box and put in pantry where it is cool...im hoping it will last the week. From the freezer man we bought 2 large bags of lamb chumps..about 20-25 in each bag for £2 each. A pack of 12 vegetarian pies in a cheese sauce..freshly made £3. 8 chickn and veg pies HM £2. So should see usright for a while..LOL.
Anyway have to go and have some lunch.
Hugs

Hello everyone, much too late for individual hellos!!
Have read posts, and ((((hugs)))) to all who feel ill or have sorrows at the moment.for those enjoying good days!!!
Been really busy with loads of boring stuff, and don't feel I'm making much progress at the moment!! Sort of things that will hopefully gather pace and suddenly come together!!
Penny-Pincher! Was so sorry for your bad news, hope you can feel more positive soon. You certainly get the bargains. What market is it that you go to? It can't be far from me and I'd certainly welcome those prices!!!
To be honest, feeling very slow and sluggish today, can't make out whether I'm coming down with something, just being lazy, or am still knackered after yesterday's lunchclub ( that really is tiring!!) Maybe combination of all three!! I suppose I'd better get on, might leave myself logged on, then if I happen to be passing............. byee! You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Afternoon
LO is currently having her nap. Log maker has arrived from ebay so I have made 6 paper logs so far. Next lot of paper is in soaking at the moment, I have exhausted our paper supply after that, may have to let OH get his paper everyday think the budget will stretch to that. As well as log making I've made a batch of brownies using up some dried apricots (yum yum). Done 3 loads of washing, 2 on the maiden, 1 load of towels in the dryer.
When DD wakes going to Tescos to sort out my cc points and then on to MIL's may ask if I can have her newspapers, she already thinks we are mad to be getting a woodburner. But then she thinks I'm mad to cook meals so what does she know.
Chicken for tea with roast spuds, carrots and swede.
Have a good afternoon everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -

Popped in to Tescos this morning, noticed on the receipt that it said that Organic double points would show up on the next clubcard statement and not immediately. HTH.
Glad you got the log makerSounds like you've got space to dry them too
Currently our utility room seems clogged up with bricks drying ... very slowly in this damp weather
This morning we went to the farm shop, got loads of bacon, sausages and HM burgers. Not cheap, not expensive .. good quality.
Then went to the Health Food shop which sells homebrew equipment and bought DH a pressurised beer barrel, so I guess I know what DH is making tonight
I must make the damson jam tonight ... I must, I must.
Dinner tonight will be pork and apple burgers, broccoli, carrots and new pots.
Right, now to make DD a Winnie the Pooh cushion cover, as I found the material lurking in my box (DH bought me a w-t-p fat quarter from the US, but tbh I'm not sure how to incorporate it in to anything, so I thought I would make a cushion cover!) Now, all I need is a zip .... hmmmmm ....GC - March 2024 -0 -
Had a quiet morning, feeling slightly less 'hung over' (I wish) decided not to have a nap, then I should sleep better tonight.
Have the dresser in the local paper, so everything out of it, have washed it down with vinegar and water, will give it a polish later when I am sure its dry. I found several small glass containers when I was clearing it out, they had candles in, have washed them, will go to Wilko's tomorrow and see if I can get candles for them, any idea where I can get cellophane so I can tart them up????? Then will put them on the boot sale.
The two coffee grinders on ebay have both got offers, so they will sell. Need to go and beg two shoe boxes from the local shoe shop to pack them in.
OH gone off to play bowls.......
When I was going through a couple of the boxes under my cutting table I found a half finished embroidered cloth and another one which is not started. I was given them in 1998 when we were in Califorina.....one I am going to repack the unstarted one, I will put on the craft stall, someone might buy it. Its very pretty design of daisy's 51 x 51 just a nice size for a tea table. I used to do a lot of embroidery years ago, but since I got into quilting I have not done much. Am going to try and finish the one I started, 3 years ago, not that I will use it, I have a drawer full I could do with selling........I still have not found anywhere to put the kitchen tablecoths and mats........all 3 of the drawers in the dresser have cloths and mats in.
Bacon sandwhiches for lunch, not sure what to have for my tea, OH will get his at the bowls club.........
Going to chill for an hour or so, then have another go at the dresser. I sure did not realise we had so much stuff in it...................

afternoon all, been lovely here today, the temp was 22 at lunchtime, went to asda, no bargains to be had
got tablets from dr so presume i wont be sleeping in the loo tonight
speaking of log bricks, my dh used to get dross and mix it with cement powder and water and make bricks like that , cant remember the amounts though
do you know that if you get a good coal fire burning in the evening, throw some dross mixed with water onto the back of the fire and it should keep in all evening, cheaper than throwing little bits of coal on all evening and warmer
dumpy - welcome from me too
pen pen - i love shortbread in fact i live between a distillery and a shortbread factory, sometimes there is a lovely smell of it if the wind is in the right direction
love to all xx0 -
Cushion cover completed
DD now happily sitting on it
"Dross" - what is dross?
Right, time to put dinner on .... definitely going to make sausage dog draught excluder tonight.GC - March 2024 -0 -

Dross is what some people would call slack, its the rubbish you get when the coal gets chucked in, the dust at the bottom of the coal bunker.
My mother used to make up the fire and then put some of the dust mixed with tea leaves on the top, this kept the fire in overnight, it made the fire burn slowly.......we used to mix the dust with cement and water to make bricks for the fire..........

Hi all.
Managed to get back from work before rest of the family so I've got about an hour to fly round and sort things out.
Was struggling to sort something out for dinner, but arrived home to find BM replacement blade had arrived - so HM pizza it is! Should have everything else in, just have to make the dough. Would be nice to have some mushrooms but we'll survive without them (actually I've just remembered I might have a tin of sliced mushs in the cupboard from when I clicked the wrong thing on a Tesco online shop - oo goody) It all helps with the grocery challenge.:T
Also found a charity bag asking for books and things - great, a chance to empty the boxes I've got sitting at the top of the stairs.
So even though the postie still hasn't brought my new cook book I'll forgive him today.
So I'm off to put WM on, start up BM, clear out "stuff" and create shopping list for tomorrow/Saturday.. Aren't I a little :A . (Well maybe I'll have a little :coffee:first)
