    Hi one and all!
Back to work so OS head definitely not on at present although did wash floors before coming in and hit Wilko en route emerging with Stardrops, Borax [haven't a clue what to do with it but hey ho!] and bicarb. Do you think they knew I was coming because it was all lined up together ooh the shelf for me!
Yesterday was fairly productive. Converted my free plums into plum vodka using the recipes from here for inspiration. Am now going to have to train myself to leave it alone!! My free door also arrived [I think my friend was in a rush to get rid of it] Their house is an ex police one and I think the police dog has gnawed it in one place...thank goodness for filler!! OH seemed very pleased though...he's really coming on to the MSE way of thinking and unbeknown to me did a comparision on the utilities site last night. he also tells me that he's going to tackle the house insurance at the weekend and I think we're going to get roadside recovery :money: recommends! Do you think there is such a thing as MSE addiction...it seems to permeate a lot of different areas of my life at present in one shape or form.

Speaking of which I may just happen to pop into Argos on my way home and check out the slow cookers. Have been resisting but now am working longer can begin to see distinct time and money saving advantages...and I've got just the right space in my cupboard. Not that I've told OH yet!!
Tonight I shall be repainting the front door..it now looks dreadful next to my freshly painted garage door. I think it'll be BBQ pasta for tea...new budget recipe so shall have to see how it goes.
Enjoy the rest of your days

Have given up on work for 5 minutes for a quick MSE browse. Hugs to all & a big well done to Bargain Rzl for hitting her savings target. You have a justifiable right to feel smug! My Oz fund gets another £700 in it tomorrow too - only 9 weeks to go :T :j

Got up early & was in the gym for 8 this morning (slight smug feeling here too!), so a very productive start to the day. OH is on another late shift today, so it's a defrosted portion of spag bol for me tonight, hurrah - no cooking! (I don't class boiling up a bit of pasta & reheating the sauce in the microwave as "cooking" any more!)

OH has applied (& been accepted) for a Nationwide Credit Card this morning solely for holiday use, so that should make our trip to Australia a bit more straight forward. Hello to Ms_london too - hope you're enjoying yourself.

Lillibet - my OH is often disappearing off to work with my keys/purse/laptop etc in the car. I have learnt the hard way to keep the spare car key somewhere accessible/memorable!

Enough from me, really must do some ironing tonight, but motivation is low!

    see you later

They are just a brand of spiral-bound notebook, they come in various sizes and some have dividers in them . Tesco have little academic Pukka pads, but I like A4 ones from Staples ;)

    Afternoon

I am a little happier than I was this morning even though nothing has changed:confused: I bought a book today The Cleaning Bible by Kim and Aggie, anyone got it? Thought it might cheer me up:confused:
I have decided when my horse is better I am going to take him back from the girl who has him and have him closer to me at home, so I need to find a 'nice' yard.........god I hate yard searching they are sooo bi***y
Good job I took my saddle back as it was new last yearjust before I had my other horse PTS but it looks wrecked and I havent used it:mad: I will clean it up and put it away, at the moment it's sat in my front room stinking the place out of leather and horses.
Will have an early night tonight I am really tired.
Stew in the SC not sure what potatoes to do with it??

Have you all had a nice afternoon?

Hiya ageandjo ... I wonder where everybody else is this afternoon? ... Urgh. I'm having "one of those days" at w**k. Chasing round after engineers who can't write in coherent English without it being laden with technical jargon, being approached by my old boss who cheerfully mentioned wanting to borrow me back again (I said NO, just as I've said to everybody else recently - I'm busy! I'm trying to get our Annual Report published within a fortnight, virtually single-handed!) ... :wall: :wall: ... Annnnnyway ... Better get back to it ... Rzl xx

  • Hi, Rzl, Thriftlady and Ageandjo! Also to everyone else on the OS afternoon shift.

I also have had a c**p day at work. Went to see a client over the wolds, and she and her social worker really tore me off a strip. I had to go and look round the charity shops to calm down (great ones, all ironed, sized and colour co-ordinated, btw :D ). Got back to the office and social worker was on the phone complaining to my boss about me. Luckily my boss asked for my side of the story, which was far more believable (she said), but I can do without this.

Going home soon, to take it out on the skirting boards. Then out for a drink with my chookie friends.

Got a lovely e-mail from someone who we offloaded a sack of junk onto yesterday. Did I mention that I also have been ofered 2 pasta makers :D Children are delighted. They had real ravioli in an Italian restaurant, and want to experiment with fillings.

Time for a cuppa before home.

    Penny. x

    Hi all :hello:

No, I haven't gone AWOL........ well, not in body anyway :D

We had a lovely weekend camping in the Lake District. Unfortunately, the whole campsite was on a slope which meant that DH and I ended up in the corner every morning! ;) We're planning to go back for Easter - but to a slightly flatter campsite....... yes, there is such a thing up there.

I spent yesterday in London (again!), this time the excuse was meeting up with my old uni housemates for supper. I got there early though, so that I could have a good mooch around. I seemed to walk for miles and miles, which was lovely and something that I haven't done for a while.... around London. Our supper was in a restaurtant that one of my friends had booked through www.toptable.co.uk We got 50% off everything on the menu, which meant that it was slightly more palatable when we received the bill. :)

This morning, I've been going round the banks changing my surname with them all. It was very easy, apart from First Direct where our joint account is held. We've been able to do everything else for First Direct (just about) through the HSBC......... but try to change your name, they suddenly "can't access the account". So much for them being part of an international organisation. I understand why you can't do it, but it's just blimming annoying! :D I'm impatient, I suppose :D.

This afternoon, I've looked round another 3 houses! One of the houses that I looked at has evidently just been redeveloped and the bloke that has done it was at the house, whilst the estate agent was showing me round. When it was time to leave he (the vendor) said "so, are you interested then?" Most off-putting! I can't suddenly decide that I'm going to spend an awful lot of money just by walking round it by myself. The estate agent was absolutely mortified...........:o :p

Anyway, I think that I've jabbered for long enough.

    Take care
