    Good Morning Guys:D

Sorry didnt post yesterday, thats mainly because i discovered the delights of MSN and couldnt stop chatting to a friend:eek:

DD and I couldnt sleep last nite either, funny - so we had toast/milk/tea at 3am! then back to bed, but dont you wake up heavy headed in the morning?
Well beds made, hoovered everywhere, dw emptied, bathtowels washed and out on line (looking cloudy now though) cleaned bathroom, so house tidy for when i get home - then just ironing to do - as usual:o

yesterday got Gary Rhodes Bread Mixes reduced in my asda to 58p! have made the crusty white - yummy, got the multigrain/sweet pepper/basil to go!
i know some of you have had the sweet pepper on here.
Also managed to grab some NZ lamb chops half price, and tesco finest mince £1 to go in freezer. Got some blueberries half price in tesco, thought i might have a go at those blueberry muffins on here!

Question: I put a beefstew in SC yesterday, came out fine, but i thought the liquid in SCs wasnt supposed to evaporate? but it does, this is the 2nd time ive tried it and i have to be careful otherwise liquid evaps and food starts sticking to bottom. I put in 2 pints of stock? is that not enough?

mrsmortenharket - it was my DS first time to cinema too! Cars was good wasnt it!
nicki/PP - enjoy your time away guys.
aussielass - bet dolphins were lovely! dont suppose I will get to see any dolphins by the "Woolwich Ferry" :rotfl:
Taplady - hope OH gets better soon
Kazonline - Gosh what alot of stuff you found!!!!! its amazing isnt it!
catowen - hows the hoovering going?
CM - virtual wave across the water!

and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BECLES! HAVE A NICE DAY!

Hello to everyone else and hugs to all who need them today.

Morning everyone. (still is isn't it? Just about)

I'm having a lazy start again today. I'm trying to hang around and see if the postie brings my ebay bargain (a book for 1/3 of the new price including postage, plus the woman chucked in another book free, and i've been trying to buy this book on ebay for 2 weeks at silly prices).

I must go into work today and finally finish tidying my desk up. (did the classroom last friday) and then i have the rest of the hols to spend doing my stuff. I don't want it hanging over me when we are away, or i really will be on the downhill part of the hols.

I was a bit sad yesterday, and worked out that although i have 4 weeks left, there are only 22 days where i can get chores done, so i need to stop wasting time. I find it so much easier to just do a bit at a time, and i suppose some jobs can extend on to the start of my maternity leave, or the 3 weekends when i'm back at work before it starts. I really don't know where this week has gone.

Had a bit of a moment last night when i realised that the new wallunit they had sent me was wrong. The top part i had picked was shaped, and had flowers carved into it. The one we have been given is straight, has no carvings, and 3 less shelves. I'm just trying to work out how bothered i am. On the one side it is not what we ordered which is very wrong, but on the other side, i wasn't that upset, and i think it would stress me out more to have to arrange to send it back and get it remade, and the flowery bit would probably be a git to dust. The sort that attracts bits of cloth.

DH test drove a car yesterday so that might be another problem solved. He was going to test drive another and then we will make a decision.

I'm now going to make a move as there is no sign of the postie.

    Happy Birthday Becles.

Happy honeymoon Ajax, and enjoy your hols PP, and the weekend away Nikki and TM.

Kazonline - sounds like you need a rest my dear. Callouses and blisters are not a good luck. Take some time doing something nice after all that hard work.

moggins - don't strangle DH. It isn't worth it. Can you take the batteries out of the remote control to stop channel hopping incidents? That is my DH's worst habit.

Think we are going to have a takeaway tonight. We were going to go out but then thought we couldn't afford it, but we need some quality time before working hard again tomorrow. We should have a DVD rental arriving with the postie. Mr and Mrs Smith. And we'll plan out what we will get done. I also need to do some loads through the WM for the hols.

    Take care, Michelle, xx

Goodnight everybody I'm off to bed :D

See you in the morning. I've just got the jug on to fill up my hot water bottle. It's a wee bit chilly here. :p

Shez My liquid doesn't usually evaporate in the SC. Seems odd doesn't it.

I thought I was going to get a decent sleep in the morning but the cement truck is turning up at 7am. Then the rest is to arrive after that. Hope you all have a nice day. Byeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning all :hello: ... Just come out of dull meeting with my boss and others  ... Happy Birthday Becles :D ... To all those who are off on hols, I hope you have a lovely time  ... Send us a postcard :p ... TM, did you get my PM? It's one of my only methods of communication when I can't easinly get on MSN or my home email ... Busy weekend ahead ... Reeeeeeeally need a break ... Fortunately next week I have most of my evenings free ... Will go to a couple of Proms, I should think, but will be having a fairly leisurely week of early nights ... well I say leisurely ... I do have to do all the laundry I've been neglecting (I had to fish a pair of suit trousers out of the washing pile this morning :o) and continue with the de-cluttering/pre-moving exercise ... I know I won't be moving for at least a month but if you saw how much junk I've got, you'd know why I have to start now ... New flat is NOT going to be a junk tip! ... Smashing Blouse, I wonder if I can beat your 64 charity bags :rotfl: ... See you later ... Probably ... might not have time to get on here over the weekend so I hope everybody stays well ... Love Rzl xx

  • shez - perhaps you have a slight gap inbetween the lid and the dish? I have noticed that mine does (things have been sticking!) so ideas I have had are...put a tea towel over the pot then put the lid on (but could be a bit extreme!!), or if it's just one side fold up some kitchen paper or a clean cloth and tuck it in to make sure it's all sealed properly ........................ Any other ideas anyone??

well it doesnt seem to have any gaps? maybe its because the veggies soak up some of the liquid?

also the dumplings dont rise as good as they do if i do it in a big pot on cooker? cos you can up the temperature to get the steam to make them rise, but you cant in a SC, even on high temp it takes a while!
its a new SC, morphy richards 6.5L one

if you put a teatowel on first, doesnt that stop the steam building up to cook food?

Shez - my dumplings never rise as well in the SC as they do on the hob, but i think thats because they need it really bubbling hot, but the SC doesnt do that. What veggies are you using? they might be absorbing all the stock, or, if you are making loads (your SC is bigger than mine), maybe you need more stock!!! Loving my new hoover by the way!!!!!

using usual veggies for stew, swede, parsnip, carrot, celery, onion - yes i agree about dumplings they rise better on top of stove!

it doesnt evaporate much twink (i think), but obviously im worried if im out all day and leave it on that it will start sticking if there's not enough liquid in it.

    Hello everyone

Back on a quickie for lunch - the office is as boring as ever! Have skim read the thread but have taken nothing in. Unfortunately Mr Evil Toad from the computer dept has this week blocked access to the MSE chat forums. No wonder the office is boring.

Well, I have to wish BECLES a very happy birthday! Happy birthday!!

Also happy birthday to Chickadee for yesterday. That's right isn't it Chickadee, you were twenty-nine (or so) yesterday? Hope you had a fantastic day all dressed to your shoes and with your shiny sink!

Have to go back to the [STRIKE]orifice[/STRIKE] office now. Bye bye!
