It is not our place, as anonymous people posting on the internet, to judge him as if we are superior because we didn't read an essay before doing our own.
?
It is perfectly appropriate to point out the fact that plagiarism is wrong and can have dire consequences.
More genuine people than you have pointed the OP to the vast amount of help that will be available to him within his institution, which will enable him to gain a real skill rather than just to copy others.0 -

Suggestions that the OP shouldn't be at university if he can't do essays and assignments as well as he thinks he could. Suggestions that it's 'shocking' that someone can be in 2nd year but still be asking for help. To put "no offense" etc. after it doesn't make it unoffensive.
Are those abusive? If I was the OP I would consider that they are. If you disagree about it being abuse; see here. Abuse: "speak to in an insulting and offensive way." If I was the OP I'd be very offended that I was being insulted for asking for essay help.Oldernotwiser wrote: »It is perfectly appropriate to point out the fact that plagiarism is wrong and can have dire consequences.

It's appropriate to point out, yes, but that doesn't mean offering the link is a preposterous thing to do which will inevitably lead to copying.
What is this 'vast amount of help' at his university? The OP said, they don't have a study skills department and lecturers haven't been as much help as he would've like. That doesn't sound like a 'vast amount' to me. He hasn't said what uni he goes to, so how can know what his uni offers?
So if by offering an alternative that the OP can use at his own will should he choose makes me disingenuous, then so be it.0 -

We don't really need to know the subject of the op's essays as it would be seen as plagarising if we helped them with their work. We should not be expected to help with the content, as we already have, give general advice.
it would not be seen as plagarising if we knew the topic of the work in hand at all. Im not saying im going to write the essay, I was merely interested!:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0 -

Offering someone adviceon on essay writing whilst writing in textspeak doesn't seem very helpful to me!
Oh are you judging me by the way I speak!? Just because I use 'text speak' does not mean that I cannot help someone with an essay, it is only easier to type like what when one is in a rush, which I happened to be in last night. I will have you know I have nearly finished by degree with 3 weeks to go.:jHas saved so much money since joining this forum, thanks to all you kind people out there :j0 -

I've read essays before starting my own. But I don't copy them. And I'm not cynical enough to suggest the OP will copy. Should I have all my exam results taken away now and my university offers because I did that? Did my reading of an essay give me a better grade than I should have got?
You would be better saving your money and asking a lecturer for an example of a good assignment. Most will be happy to provide one, and will show you something they rate highly, which is important because the style, content and structure of what is expected varies from course to course, module to module and lecturer to lecturer.
Also, for anyone thinking of submitting an assignment from one of these places, do be aware that universities now run large numbers of assignments though plagiarism spotting software... and the penalties can include expulsion from your course.0 -

Well the OP said "We have asked but they never shown us anything. If I was shown a good, muddled and an ok one like they did with you, I'm sure I would understand more of what is needed."
So I merely offered an alternative suggestion, but I get lambasted from the Fascists who patrol these boards.0 -
Is this a degree, or a foundation degree? and were you a non standard entrant?Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

It's stronger than a disagreement from what I've been reading. It's more of me being attacked for offering an alternative, having a different opinion and not being a cynic.
And that sounds like fascism to me.0 -

Calm down - the reality is that sadly, lots of students pay out for these essays, expecting some level of quality - many are in fact badly written and cobbled together - which is little use for a student trying to work out what a really good assignment should look like.
Too many struggling students submit these as their own work, and are caught out, either through plagiarism spotting software, or because the essay submitted does not quite fit the assignment question set, or because the writing style is very different to the student's own. It is generally not difficult for an experienced lecturer to spot plagiarised assignments.
Buying them is not illegal, but plagiarising from them; or submitting them under your own name is very problematic, and may well carry heavy penalties. Sure, the OP can buy one, if they so desire, but caveat emptor!
Oh, and you have been subjected to a barrage of abuse... not a barrel of abuse!0
