You don't sound moany at all greent, far from it. As a mum of two I honestly don't know how people do it with 3+, & I'm about as [STRIKE]neurotic & retentive [/STRIKE] organised as they come
If I could be so bold, can I correct the bit where you say you're not working to you're not in *paid* work - if anybody works their posterior off its full time mums of four :T
I hope things go smoothly this week for you. It's been so cold here I actually gave myself chilblains :eek:Life is changing...but I'm still Money Saving!0 -

Agreed, about the not-moaning and about the not-in-paid-work! Really important distinctions

Thank you RT & KC!

So here ends the 3 month contract in London - OH is back from his final week there. Wasn't too bad at this end most of the time - just the sheer physical impossibility of often needing to be in 2 places at the same time - that's what comes of having 4 children with a reasonable age spread/ range of activities/ 3 educational establishments, I guess!Anyway, for the time being that's not necessary:j
I'm working (paid work:D) (part of) every (week)day for the next 2 weeks :eek: so OH will be doing the morning school runs. Thankfully my finish times vary between 11.30(ish) to 1.30ish so I can always do pm ones if he needs to be somewhere. He is very much looking forward to a bit of 'time out' though - and has a whole list of DIY jobs/ jobs to get someone in for to sort!
(I don't mind organising some tradesmen, but I also find that some are just easier to get him to sort (some seem to regard me as the 'little woman'). It used to annoy me but I just let it wash over me nowadays - it's not important in the scheme of things.
Having someone else here also frees me up to get more done, even though I'll be working - yeayI want to get on with more KMing and have stalled a bit - although the 'done' areas are staying 'done' and have even been revisited and tweaked slightly
Not much money news here - ooh, other than paying £850 for a roof repairOH's car also needs to go into the dealers on Monday as it has a fault which won't clear. Am hoping it comes under warranty
Freezer(s) clearance is going quite well - lots of stewed apple being consumed as a result - at least it's 'reasonably' healthy, I guess! Will move at a much greater pace now OH is back
Off to unload/ reload wm now - rock and roll Friday night here!

Thats good to have him back
and I'm glad you've taken it onboard about the paid/unpaid thing
Stewed apple - my ears pricked up at that, at apple time this year I'll be retired, and there are 4 or 5 sets of apple trees locally that have apples going spare, by the hundreds - I'll dehydrate some, and stew lots of others. Its one of the things I'm looking forward to2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hope things are a bit easier now. It is good when your children have lots of interests and want to join in with things, but the logistics can be a nightmare, I still remember.Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
So how's it going greent? Are you still really busy? How's the freezer clearing going?
I'm trying to clear out my freezer-as well as sorting out loads of other stuff.

Hello all! I don't know where the past few weeks have gone!
Well, I spent the 2 weeks before half term working every day and came down with a cold which moved rapidly to my chest so was shattered as a result from lack of sleep/ lack of breath in general! Very little house stuff achieved in those 2 weeks (I think OH needed a recharge too) but plans made
Half term is here now - yeay! Heavy homework load for DD and DS1, even without having revision plans added in. It seems so much more intense than when I was a teenager. DD had a sleepover with 5 friends on Monday night (was originally 7 but two dropped out that morning) - thankfully they just take over the family room/ office (converted double garage, so a decent amount of space, and the room is hardly ever used) - there's a double sofa bed in there already and we just throw in a load of air beds when we go off to bed. They like coming here as they can hide away from everyone else. It works for us too as the room directly above is DD's anyway, so no one is disturbed by any noise. They ordered Chinese takeaway (they all paid for their own - very impressed - we just had to collect it as the only driver among them was v low on fuel) and drank copious amounts of Coke and Pepsi and hot chocolate and ate lots of sweets, chocolates and crisps whilst watching a heap of DVDs which someone had brought along. Quite an easy sleepover to manage, really for a group of 17 & 18yo girlsThey even fully tidied up in the morning before they left - all that needed doing was a quick vacuum of the room - including putting the airbeds away in their boxes - better than we do!
:D
DD and OH have gone up to Chester uni today for an applicant day. She has received 5/5 offers. Her first choice is Cardiff - applicant day on Saturday - with her insurance choice as yet undecided. Cardiff require A/A/B (as do 2 of her other offers) - which she is certainly capable of achieving - fingers crossed!
DS1 has decided that he wants to stay on at his current school for 6th form - they have good results in his A level subjects (maths and sciences) and he has some issues at times which are probably preferable to have people who know him already, rather than have to settle into a new school with new staff and students and deal with issues.
Decorating DS3's room should have happened already - but hasn't even been started! I will start emptying it out today, ready for some diy action to start tomorrow. Other than that, my plans for today are doing some baking with the boys (mega chocolate cookies, coconut/banana/cherry cupcakes and maybe rocky road as well), some homework with the small 2, catching up on ironing and maybe (unlikely, but in an ideal worls...) start finalising paperwork for our co's end of year (31st Jan) to take over to the accountants asap. I must confess to not having any real plans with the children this holiday - 2 days are taken up with Uni applicant days, 2 funerals of friends of DH's on 2 other days and time is swiftly moving on. I will ask them later if there is somewhere that they'd like to go this week - bearing in mind that it's still a bit manky weather wise
Freezer clearance still progressing - although I did pick up some yellow stickered meat the other day. However, we still have spaces in there and I'm even hopeful of being able to turn the garage one off at the end of this month/ early March and defrost it and clean it and leave it off until Autumn, when we inevitably have garden produce to freezeI have eaten more frozen apples and pears from 2011!!!! this week......they were hiding in the frost at the back of the garage one. Tasted fine though!
KMing is very bitty at the moment - I have a bag in the porch for the CS of random items from the kitchen, but progress is sloooooow. I do have some books to send to Ziffit - but need to find another couple to add to them to get to required minimum amount. I also have boxes and boxes of items labelled and priced for a NNS at the end of this month - I am hoping that lots of it goes - meaning that I might be able to add something to my sales figure! (I have absolutely nothing to ebay at the moment!) I have about half of the required amount for our Florida hols saved up in the specified account, and I could get most of the rest from our unallocated savings if necessary so between that and expected savings between now and then (July) I am not forseeing any need to borrow anything - yeay! It *is* a mega expensive (for us) holiday, but I really do think that it will be the last big family holiday we take as a family of 6, so the memories will be worth the mega £!
With Florida in mind, I really do need to get back on the losing weight wagon - I have been useless this year. I am going to draw up some targets and charts and hope that that will help motivate me (I do not want to spend a 9hr flight with my bum uncomfortably wedged in an airline seat!)

Seeing how you've been ill, it sounds like a lot's been going on! Sorry to hear two of the events you're going to are funerals, though, greent
Good news on DD though - a good sleepover and all those offers, brilliant. Have you been to Cardiff? I was there a few years ago, and its a lovely place to stay, it seems to have turned itself into a showcase. Hope all the clearing goes well today xx2023: the year I get to buy a car0
