snoozer I am sorry to hear that you have developed lyphodema.I too have it in my right arm, and apart from the manual lymphatic drainage massage that I have to pay £40.00 an hour for as our local health authority won't provide a MLD clinic for ( if I lived 6 miles down the road in another health authority it would be free)and wearing a specially made compression sleeve there is no cure, and unfortunately I have to live with it.It's a blessed nuisance as my right arm is 30% bigger because of it than my 'good' arm, but I have just learned to adjust to what I can do and what I can't .I cannot lift anything heavier than a kettle with my wonky arm and I have to keep it in good condition with lots of moisterising creme that i get from my Dr.s.If as I did a few weeks ago get a small cut in it it 'leaks' lymphatic fluid for ages until it heals up and if I get any infection at all in that arm I have to get antibiotics very quickly to stop the infection spreading It affects my immune system so great care must be taken to keep it in good condiotion I can't have any blood taken from that arm, or even have my blood pressure taken. But I am still alive and kicking and have learned to do what I can with what I have got.
I hope you can get your MLD treatment without having to fork out for it.My therapist is a smashing chap and thinks its appalling that folk have to pay for what is ,at least in my case, a life long condition that will never go away.Mine started last year after I had a fall on holiday.Although I was told it can occur anytime at all after breast cancer treatment even up to ten years later.I hope your is not too painful, I find it more of a nuisance than anything else.
Had a good afternoon at history class and popped in to Aldi's and bought some carrots got a kilo for 69p.Tonight I have my DGS Danny popping in to connect up some new speakers to my computer on his way home from work.Hope everyone has a good weekend I am off to London again tomorrow to go on a blue-badge walk with my Uni class around Islington so I hope it doesn't rain
take care all

Evening everyone.
Thanks for the "whit woos" for my H (it's a standing joke I think he's got a harem of women on FB
) He wasn't quite so overweight when I first met him (although not as slim as he is now) and I am afraid us living together and my VERY poor cooking led us to piling on the pounds
Goodness when I think back to how little home cooking I did back then I feel ashamed
Floss - you can freeze Lemon Drizzle cake so you could make that in advance. I would assume the coffee cake you could make the sponge, freeze that too and then ice it the night before? I assume it is a victoria type sponge cake that one. Not sure about the brownies as I don't make them very often.
snoozer - surely your H will offer to massage said boobies :rotfl: I know my H would be first in line to offer if it was me
Glad you got it checked out and I hope it clears up soon xx
pipkin - you enjoy your bread pudding. Life is too short not to have anything nice
Just logged on to contact my local council and have a whinge (complete with photo's). Alongside the local infant school there is a fairly large green space with adjacent path and dog poo bin. It floods here regularly and when the bin men come to empty said bin they drive on the path/grass and cause loads of mud etc over the path. I am fed up of walking on what should be tarmac but is instead either swimming with water or covered in mud  Plus then the kids shoes get filthy and I am sick of having to mop my porch/sweep endless bits of mud from my home. Good job I don't have carpet.
Anyway rant over. need to go and upload pics so I can send them on to the council.
Have a good evening

Hi Jackie,
My arm is fine - they didn't take any lymph nodes from my armpit, but the nurse thinks that they've done somethoing to affect the drainage in my breast. She said they would do the massage treatment as if it were routine so I'm assuming that I won't have to pay. Having looked it up it seems that a lot of doctors etc don't take it terribly seriously - I agree you shouldn't have to pay for it.
Not a lot OS has gone on around here today, unless you count buying a knitting kit online, I don't know if I'm being a bit ambitious as it's knitted on circular needles and I've never done that before.
Bitsy - he probably would, unfortunately its a bit sore so I don't think he'll be getting near them. I'll leave it to the expert.
Dog poo is the bane of my existence at the moment - I'm a Town Clerk and have problems with people not picking it up or leaving bags of the stuff by the bins from their own gardens, not to mention the delightful tykes who take the bags out of the bins and throw them at people's houses (the thought mkes me feel sick). Then we have the same problems you have with the bin men driving across grass instead of the long way round. I love my job but I'd happily do without this aspect.0 -
Evening all
Happy birthday NPM!
We have finally finished the garden
the lady who asked us to help was very pleased with it. I gave my kids a half day to say well done and went back to office for few hours and finally got to sort out all the bits of paper I've had lurking round my 'minibus office' :rotfl:
Just put WM on with my muddy clothes so will put that on airer in a bit.
Can't decide on tea. Will just find something easy probably.
have a good evening

N9eav is a man and we used to have Halight who doesn't post as regularly now, but still pops in from time to time to say hi. Also Salopman doesn't post as much now. I'd say that you're on your own with your argument :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:stroppyjock wrote: »I'm on thin ice with this argument :rotfl: is there any other blokes on this thread to help out?
Bitsy I'm so pleased to be able to read the article online. I didn't find a mens health magazine when it was in there. Well done your DH :T I could do with taking a leaf (or several trees) out of his book
Snoozer I'm pleased that you have a diagnosis and hopefully a solution to the problem. My SIL had breast cancer 2 years ago and still suffers from time to time with swelling both in the breast and arm.
Hope that everyone has had a good day. I'm shattered now so thinking of a hot bath & an evening with the tv in my jammies
It's pouring down and cool now so it'll warm me up too, although I have put the heating on as well

Evening all.....(((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need one. Very late postiing, do not know where the day has gone, mind you I have cleaned the boot room, kitchen, bathroom and sitting room. This afternoon I finished this:-
its a present for our hostess on Tuesday.
Lots of rain all day, one small patch when it stopped for about half an hour, but at least its not misty as it was yesterday visibility was down to 5 metres iin places.
We have a lot of plants to pot up they are quickly becoming too big for the plant trays they are in. OH started off some seeds on top of the boiler, they have come on in leaps and bounds with the bottom heat.
The veg garden has been fenced, we have to put the gate on now and OH will be able to spend time in his veg plot and I can carry on with the garden.
Farmers market in Haddington tomorrow so I think we will be going in to see whats on offer.
Tired tonight, might have a snooze on the settee.........Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Just a quick update.
The meeting went really well and its looking like he may get a really good contract. It would really ease my mind, not being able to work. There might even be something for me to do from home:beer:
Sadly she didn't pass her test:( it sounds like she really just went to pieces so gave her a big hug and told her she will pass next time. Both the test instructor and her Driving Instructor said she should put straight in for it again so hopefully next time. It is just soo expensive.
Lovely tea of pasta, chicken and roast peppers. So now off for a hot bath and my PJ's. I'm tired out with all this excitement:DStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

csarina - that bag is lovely
Well done you. How do you do the embroidery? By hand?
Julie - sorry your DD didn't pass her test. At least she's experienced it now so hopefully she'll be able to keep her nerves in check a bit better next time. Only problem with not passing is the cost!!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Evening everyone
I had a great day cooking and baking made 2 jars lemon curd, 2 jars orange curd, a banana cake (had some dodgy looking bananas but refuse to waste them), and a loaf of bread. I also got some HM ready meals done - Chicken Jalfrezi, Chinese pork, Chilli, spag bol, Minced meat pie, cheese and onion pie and an apple and blackberry crumble - only downside was the washing up  still at least I won't have to do it later and my meals are sorted for next week
shattered tonight though.
Julie - fingers crossed (((((hugs))))) to DD - I agree about the cost of a test it really is very expensive x
joyful I am lucky my SIL always colours and cuts my hair because I keep her computer going
csarina - what a lovely gift - clever you :T
Gemmabuckle what a shame that your offer wasn't accepted but the next house might be just the one and as you say it doesn't need as much doing to it x
