    Hi Choc!!

How was your meal last night?

Have you looked at the Payment a Day thread? Its all about paying a little or a lot, whatever you have spare either off the debts or into savings - I started in January and its really addictive! Plus its one of the friendliest threads on here and very, very motivating!

    Afternoon,

Hope everyone is having a good day, despite some awful weather....well where I am!

Miss Mental - thanks for popping buy, the spending diary is really good and it's certainly making me think about realise what I spend money on....mainly being food :o:o:o perhaps if I stop these spends thing will look different or maybe I need to start looking for vouchers for restaurants etc. I like the idea of cash only - how are you finding it??

Hey True! Evening out with the girls was lovely and only cost me a tenner as I was driving - I love girlie nights but they are few and far between now that friends have little ones etc....all part of growing up I guess. Will def take a look at PAD thread, even if I put 1p per day it's certainly something I guess - thanks.
  • Glad you enjoyed your evening :D Always better when you don't spend too much:beer:

Ok, i'm a little excited and have already made a first step to clearing my lowest debt :j Sorry if I seem a bit crazy :o

So, lowest debt is £921.86 and I pay £19.56 per month to this. There is no interest or charges on this account so what I pay off is what it goes down by. So heres the plan, i've updated the total debt in my signature and I will update it every time I do the following-
    • make a monthly payment
    • make a payment to my 'debt one repayment fund'
I'm hoping that seeing the total balance go down through doing both of the above will really motivate me to throwing as much money at it as possible and then clearing it, which would be fantastic. Unfortunately I can't send the money I put aside in the debt repayment fund each month as all they will do is ask for a higher monthly payment which quite frankly some months I won't have pending various costs. I figure if I put it into my 'debt repayment fund' and offset whatever is in this account with the total paid off then it'll spur me to clear it asap and then I can start on the next one which is a few hundred pounds more. Once I have enough in my debt repayment fund to make a sensible settlement offer and clear the debt I shall do so, hopefully they'll settle for a little less and perhaps i'll save myself some £'s in the process.

Today I have already transferred £10.13 to my debt repayment fund by shuffling some money so already it is coming down :j Off to see if I can't find some more money to put towards the debt - can't tell you how excited I am :D

    Hi Choc-addict!
I love your name! mmm could just eat some chocolate- can you tell I have a similar addiction :rotfl:
anyway it sounds like you are doing really well and I like your idea for tackling the debts one by one with your extra repayments pot. Good luck!

I also used to spend a lot of money on meals out- now I limit myself to once a week and it HAS to be either with a voucher or a good deal- There are so many out there that you can always find something that's a bargain! i.e going to the pub where they have 2 meals for a tenner, or pizza hut meal deal...etc. Its amazing how much money you can save.
Also, in a bid to be healthier, if you have to pay full price just limit yourself to a main or suggest sharing a starter /dessert rather than having a whole one- I was always a bit over indulgent when it came to meals out and always had 3 courses, then I realised a) how much is was costing me and b) how unhealthy I was being! If you can cut down a little, you kill two birds with one stone ( and have some pennies left for a choc bar instead :D)

Anyway, good luck and I also second the payment a day thing. I don't have any debts now but I put £1 a day into a savings account-its great seeing it build up! You could start with 1p a day as you suggested and go from there- you really don't notice it.

Thanks Josephine, I shall wonder over to the payment a day thread and have a read :D Like you say I can start off small and work my way up.

I like your tips on eating out, might suggest that to the girls as they are trying to save money to....I like a challenge!
