No more debt.....or choc!!

Newbie here
I've decided to start my own diary for motivational purposes really and to keep me on track to a debt free life down the line.....a long way down the line sadly
I have a large amount of personal debt somewhere in the region of £45k (to be confirmed
) to which I have arrangements to pay with creditors etc, reduced or no interest, thankfully!. The situation has arisen from that good old age of 18 when you are offered everything and at the time it all seems good, years later still paying off the debt, consolidation loans, more debt! Add in helping family members and an unfortunate relationship with an ex that in no better words 'did me over' and there you have it 11 years later and I still have this debt ....oh and not to mention I have a slight choc addiction which keeps them all in business i'd say
....hoping stopping the choc bars will help me lose lbs in the other sense but save me £'s in real terms
That said i've managed in two years managed to pay 20k off of this so not all is bad....but.....i'm an impatient so and so and now want a better life, not just for me but for my boyfriend and potentially my family (when time is right). I think 11 years of mess etc is long enough and now it's time to focus on sorting it once and for all.
How i'm to do this, not sure yet??? There will be a plan but my first mission was to start a diary on which I will update daily from now on so that I can keep focused and set goals.
Right enough yapping, time to lurk and get some tips/motivation for my journey!
p.s - duplicate post as did start diary on wrong bit.....i am a newbie

I thought I was going mad! (Posted on your other post to tell you it was in the wrong place and might move! Was kinda freaked that it moved at the speed of light!)
As I said there, wow! Well done on what you've shifted so far! :T My diary really helps keep me on track and lets me blow off steam on the bad days, so I hope your diary helps you as much!

Thanks for popping by guys
niccatw - I realised that i'd done it wrong so posted it on the diaries sections. Thanks though! I like the idea of being able to vent randomly at myself on here....kind of some sort of personal therapy;) I'll be taking a peep over to your diary later!
dawnie80 - totally understand your frustration  Good luck in clearing your debts. Look forward to hearing from you again - do you have a diary?
Just mid dinner cooking but will be back to no doubt lurk and also start posting some of my plans.....

Ok, i'm very good at procrastination, in fact i'm probably the queen of it so I have decided to take things slowly, one step at a time so I don't crash and burn like I normally do.
So, from today I am going to keep a spending diary and then later this week introduce something else and so on. Small steps, but hopefully perm ones that lead to a better DFW lifestyle!
I'm working overtime today also so another step in the right direction.0 -

Up early again on my weekend and working overtime :T Another few hours in the bank for May pay day. Must say i'm slightly tired though as forgot about the hours difference until boyfriend was getting up for work and reminded me (politely) whilst I was having a go at him asking what the hell he was doing being so noisey at such an hour....oops
Feel somewhat guilty now, i'm not the best person in the mornings
Anyhow, another positive start to the day with earning money - spending diary updated yesterday and aim to keep it up. Must say it is making me think more about what I spend my money on already!0 -
Hi
I'm new to this too but I'm finding keeping a diary is really good :money:
I want to get my debts down before I start a family as well (and get a bigger house)
Good luck especially with cutting down your chocolate  I've got a slight Twirl addiction :rotfl:

Thanks anonymoose.....i'm quite partial to a Twirl too, espcially with a cuppa
Know what you mean about the getting debts down before family etc - that's an issue for me too.....in fact it's starting to stress me out a little bit!0 -
Ok, been busy thinking away whilst working and these are some of the ideas I have come up with to keep me on track towards a debt free life, I would welcome any more suggestions!
- Spending diary
- Aim for no spend days (min 10 per month)
- Weekly spending allowance (to cover everything!)
- Work as much overtime as possible
- Meal plan/shopping lists
- Free daily scratch card - monies when withdrawn to go to debt repayment fund.
- Plan/budget for xmas and birthdays (have opened separate online acc)
- Car - plan and budget for and again opened a separate online acc for this.
Right, back to work for me and earning extra money
