  • Anonymoose and Choc-addict, our planned journeys all sound so similar. I am trying to get the OH on board with the budgeting idea but think that is going to be a hard slog. He noticed that cause we paid one of our smaller debts off that we had an extra £30 a month and is now talking about upgrading the car to a newer model! Men, gotta love 'em.

I don't have a diary yet, am still a bit of a lurker. Want to have a bit of a plan before I start my diary.

Good luck with your plans for the coming week. D

Hi Dawnie80.....your OH sounds just like mine! Look forward to your diary when ready, know what you mean about having a plan. I'm hoping that by keeping this diary, reading others and having some sort of plan in action (slowly) will all lead to a debt free lifestyle!

    Love your signature :D
  • Ok, been busy thinking away whilst working and these are some of the ideas I have come up with to keep me on track towards a debt free life, I would welcome any more suggestions!
    • Spending diary
    • Aim for no spend days (min 10 per month)
    • Weekly spending allowance (to cover everything!)
    • Work as much overtime as possible
    • Meal plan/shopping lists
    • Free daily scratch card - monies when withdrawn to go to debt repayment fund.
    • Plan/budget for xmas and birthdays (have opened separate online acc)
    • Car - plan and budget for and again opened a separate online acc for this.
Thats all I can think of at the minute. My plan is to have a debt repayment fund which I will add to and once I have enough to clear my lowest debt I will then pay it off and so on - as I am on reduced payments etc I don't think it'll be in my interest to pay little bits off as other creditors may get funny, don't want to rock the boat so to speak.

Right, back to work for me and earning extra money :D

I've just opened a seperate current account so I can put my months "spending money" petrol, food etc... into it & use that. Then what's left in my other one after bills and stuff can go towards clearing the cards.

Got about 5 savings accounts to start using for things like christmas, car insurance and car tax - just got to put money into them :p

Dooyoo's a good way of making money, either Amazon vouchers towards birthday/christmas presents or cheques towards debts.
I've been claiming Amazon vouchers up til now, but I'm going for a cheque this time.

Dawnie your OH sounds like mine too *rolls eyes* his just "saved" money by getting a diesel - that cost 1k more than his other car, if he keeps it more than a year it will pay him back. Bet he'll get bored of it before then though:rotfl:

Thanks for the tip anonymoose - will take a look at Dooyoo's tonight after work.

Having me a bit of a down day, think the realisation of the whole situation is setting in - bound to happen given that it's all I think about day and night at the moment. I must keep remembering that I am taking positive steps to clearing it and not beat myself up so much!

Aiming for a no spend day today - one of many I hope!
  • *hug* hope you feel a bit better about everythign soon :)

On dooyoo you get 50 p for a 150+ word review and 1.5p for each person that reads it. Once you have £50 you can claim a cheque or £25 for a voucher.

Thanks anonymoose. Trying not to fall at the first hurdle, think it's just the reality setting in and hard work that lies ahead - it'll be worth it in the end.

Managed my first NSD yesterday :j Not going to be a nsd today though as out with friends this evening :o

Spending diary is coming along nicely and have been sticking to updating it, been an expensive week as have had bdays etc but hoping now that I have started a bday/xmas fund that it won't be so much of an impact before long.

Still yet to devise a 'proper' plan of action but am on it, brain storming ideas and reading through some very motivational diaries. Plan is to have something in place action and budget wise by the end of the bank hol weekend and start some serious DFW actions from then on.

Hope everyone has a good day :D

    Morning,

What a miserable day outside, is it ever going to stop raining?!

Nothing much planned for the day ahead apart from work - boring! Still it brings home the money and that's what matters for now.

I now have a new sparkling 'debt repayment account' with a grand total of £10.13 in it :D I know it doesn't seem much but got to start somewhere and i'm going to have a jig of money tonight and see if I can't just add to it a little. My plan is to put as much spare money aside to this as possible and then when I have enough I will clear a debt/settle.

As I have said before I have arranged with all my creditors reduced payments/interest so don't want to rock the boat and start throwing sums of money around as they may get funny. Think smallest debt is around £900 mark (to confirm) so that's my goal for now and then will start on the next smallest once that's been paid. I will update each month with a total and then take off whatever I have in my debt repayment fund at the time to give me a true debt total - i'm actually quite excited and hope that once I see the 'debt repayment fund' going up and my total debt going down considerably more with deducting it's balance that I will be motivated more than ever!

Have some big things coming up but can save that for another update as still waiting for some info to come our way - exciting times ahead :j

    Hi choc addict,

Just stopped by to say hi and wish you good luck with your plan! I started on here about a month ago and finding the spending diary really helpful, and using cash only every week.

I'm trying to do a bit of overtime at work as well, but limiting it to one or two shifts a month because it's so busy and stressful. think I would crack up without two days off a week!

Well done & good luck with your diary, MM;)
