It uses the cirrus network abroad. As Cirrus is part of Mastercard, you shouldn't have many problems finding an ATM, I know I havn't.

Look at the question, then look at my answer, then check your facts.

I have used my Nationwide in multiple ATMs abroa and never had a problem. I think its accepted by all ATMs.

Not quite: some Chinese networks don't recognise it, and it once let me down in Wien (Austria). However, I have used it to obtain money in Vietnam, Ghana, Holland, China, USA, India and a few other places, so I think it has reasonably good coverage.

One place I'd definately be using it is Tenerife.

There's plenty of Groupo Santander (company that owns Abbey) ATMs there, so I presume it'd work in those........

I love my flexaccount and my cashbuilder account and my e-savings account all with Nationwide. Manage all online and can see them in one place so its easy to juggle funds. I can also view my childs Under 7 acct and his Child Trust account in the same place on the web. Have never had any problems with them - except a windfall would be nice - but appears they only go to the other BS they takeover (opps I mean merge with... ahem!)

Anyone know what happens if you were to lose your Nationwide card when abroad? (Like, do they provide a card replacement services to you worldwide)

Wouldn't be too great to be using the card for withdrawals and lose it during a holiday, and be stuck without any access to money!
