Nationwide flexaccount

Personally, I've thought about getting a Nationwide *anything* (Flexaccount as the thread is about or a CC) - I've yet to be able to actually apply for anything online.pin wrote:Have you thought about getting a nationwide credit card for foreign purchases? Also with the nationwide card you can get 9 months interest free purchases.
And my complaints about the error messages I get when trying are falling on deaf ears. I have an internet account despite not having any products with them which allows me to login and do anything. Except apply.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Account fully operational (cheque book, debit card, and online access) the following Friday morning.
Can you tell me what ID I need to take with me to apply in branch?0 -

Something which confirms your name, and something which confirms your address. I think I took birth (and marriage) certificates for the name bit, and a council tax bill for the address. Driving licences and passports are also good ones, any utility bill (except generally mobile phone bills)... you get the idea?
There will probably be something 'official' about it on the nationwide site.0 -

Go to http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_account/apply.htm and click on the Call Me Back button. They'll give you all the information you need MrsW0 -
From their application booklet, you need one item from each of the following two lists:Nationwide wrote:Proof of name:
UK Based bank or Building society statement with debit, credit or cheque guarantee card.*
Full UIK Driving licence (paper or photocard+paper counterpart)
Valid full passport or EU member state ID card
Current benefit book
Letter from BEnefits Agency**
HMRC Notice of coding**
Birth/Adoption certificate (under 18s only)
Proof of Address:
Gas or Electric bill*
Telephone bill (not mobile)*
Mortgage Statement**
Water bill**
Council tax bill**
* Less than 3 months old
** less than 12 months old.
They do relax the rules though - for one reason or another I didn't have any of the items in list 2, but they took passport as proof of name, and bank statement with card as proof of address.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Indeed, if they 'find' you on their CRA search/Electoral Roll check you won't have to produce any ID - I didn't.Paul_Herring wrote:They do relax the rules though...0 -
Well not happy with that, surely you could have pulled a name from the electoral register ,no ID ,how can you prove a link with that name ,suppose it was OK because it was you,all your posts about fraud, when it suits .Fits you SirYorkshireBoy wrote:Indeed, if they 'find' you on their CRA search/Electoral Roll check you won't have to produce any ID - I didn't.To be happy you need to make someone happy.0 -
Relax the rules,at whose discretion,a grey area which could be used by fraudsters,I suppose your response will be as long as it comes within the act, exactly and it all depends upon how the bank decides to interpret the legislation.Paul_Herring wrote:From their application booklet, you need one item from each of the following two lists:

Well, whoever was impersonating me would have needed to know how long I'd lived at my current address (years and months), my previous address and when I moved (month and year), my DOB, etc, etc.kenshaz wrote:Well not happy with that, surely you could have pulled a name from the electoral register ,no ID ,how can you prove a link with that name ,
But, to answer your initial question (I think?), knowing my luck I'd have pulled out the name of a discharged bankrupt!
I'm not sure what this bit means?suppose it was OK because it was you,all your posts about fraud, when it suits .Fits you Sir0 -
