Thwe raddishes i tried out are in a pot in my garden, i just had to try them and see what happened, i planted abouot 8 seeds i think i'm so impatient!

I had an old rabbit hutch which i turned into a cold frame of sorts, OH took the top off, covered it in chicken wire and hung fleece all over it, This is where my "experiments" are living in pots at present!

Its been so wet here for the past few days i doubt its a good idea to plant anything as yet, the gound is water logged at best! such a shame i was really looking forward to it :(

I'm in Newark, nothing is out yet as there are bound to be frosts the day that I do it.............However, everything planted indoors is sprouting now and the entire house is an extended greenhouse or cold frame, depending on whether I've switched off the radiator in that room. Easter week-end will be my big planting out of the first lot of peas, beans , courgettes etc. which may work or may be the sacrificial crop. It better be good weather or I will combust with frustration.
  • I'm in Nottingham.

I have garlic, onion and shallot sets already in. My peas (twinkle and feltham first) are in pots in the conservatory, desperate to get into the ground. My potatoes are all chitting on windowsills and I plan to get the first earlies in next weekend. I have sprout and broccoli seedlings just coming through.

Peas (certainly feltham first) can go in the grow if already hardened off. Mine have been sitting out there for a week and a bit now.

Garlic can go in too, they need a frost for the cloves to split in the bulb, you can start onion sets in seed trays.

Have been visited by the oracle (aka my dad) and apparently my spuds are ready to go in and he has told me that radishes and salad can go in to so it appears that I was wrong so whoever has put them in sorry! He reckons that as the hawthorn bushes are starting to green up then the soil is warm enough to start sowing so guess where I'm off to:j

    Hi,
Just having a cuppa and a rest from sowing! Having looked at the forcast for next week (snow!) I have put off sowing anything outside. (Wanted to do tatties, carrots, onion sets and cabbage).

Instead, i have sown indoors, kelvedon wonder peas, brussels (brilliant F1) and a load of perennial flower seeds (lupin, aquilegia and chrisanths). :)

Gonna dig around in shed for more pots (made 40 toilet roll pots today :D), then hopefully sow some more perennials and onion sets (Thanks Misskool).

My potatoes are screaming to go out but i will wait this next cold spell out and hopefully get them out next weekend! The waiting is the hardest bit I think! :o

  • I have to go to work now :(:(, I need to stay behind and do more, but there's always tomorrow if the weather holds up. Might go Trentham Gardens again, went last sunday, they have an excellent choice of plants and only 15 mins away by car.
