Hi all, i'm in the midlands, its my FIRST year with an enourmous allotment and i'm wondering what everyone else is doing at the moment?

I've got chilli's courgettes some beans, peas and cumcumbers in propagators, all doing spectacular on window sills...( have run out of room though! )

The kids sunflowers went in a tray the other day and are already half an inch big!

Early spuds are just about ready to go in the ground, and according to a darling old man i can plant them on Good Friday..... We haven't had frost for 2 weeks, so i'm praying its all gone!

onions are due to go in this weekend, I HOPE!

Whats everyone else doing?

    Hi Lucy,

I am in the Midlands (worcestershire), and also my first year with allotment.

I'm sharing with my Dad, so far we have put in the broad beans, onions & shallots, I think we will be putting in the spuds in the next couple of weeks, I just do as I'm told by my dad!;)

    Where abouts are you?

Look forward to hearing from you

Hiya, i'm in North Staffs and I have my carrots, potatoes, £1 fruit bushes and rhubarb crown in and my onion sets are out but not planted yet, theyre in my upright greenhouse to aclimatise them as i started them off indoors.

It's nice to hear from other Midlanders. The weather is mild here today and i've been pottering around outside a bit.

I'm in Leamington spa, its been mild, but damp here the last few days...

My onions are out side, when its not raining of course....

Thinking i might put my early spuds in this weekend, if the rain holds out that is!

Well mine are already in, but apparantly we are in for some very cold weather during the next week, so hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to advise you better.

I've just recieved my onion sets and leek seeds so i have been out to plant them. The onion sets have been planted in one of the smaller raised beds and the leeks have been put out in fibre pots at present and then when i have prepared the other bed they can be put, pot and all, directly into it. Got a bit of sun here this afternoon, though it is quite cool and there are intermittent showers/downpours.

Onions are on tomorrows hitlist at the plot i think! :j

Had a trial run with some spring onions in a pot last month, raddishes too, both are growing really well so i might put some in the plot too and see what happens!

Lets pray the dont get washed away with our early april showers!
