Well it was thumbs up! It went down better than I had even hoped!
Although it was funny when OH exclaimed as the pizza came out of the oven, "You can never get a base like you get from the shops though..." LOL I told him that was the point.
He changed his mind when he ate it though.
Thanks for all your help.

I used the recipe linked in my earlier thread. Put the oven on to the very hottest setting but didn't heat the tray.
Floured the tray (a really cheap rectangular one) and rolled the base quite thinly. We just did a very simple topping of reduced toms, onions, garlic, balsamic vinegar and herbs with sliced mozzarella. Mmmmmm.....
I just popped the other half of the dough in the freezer (in a ball) and the left over sauce in a tub for next.
I guess next time I will just get the dough out in the morning and leave to defrost during the day. Will it work as well as fresh dough?
The links page is great! I never seem to find the right page at the right time, I'm going to have a good read of that little lot now... :beer:0 -
Sounds great Sazzy:jGenuinely chuffed it all worked out - is OH converted now?
Funnily enough we have a thread about freezing pizza dough
There is a thread which is ace at teaching you how to search - i searched but couldnt find anything. It taught me and is far easier than you think, so give it a go
I made very cheap and cheerful last minute pizzas last night (cheat pizza) from frozen ciabatta, baked bean juice , cheese, roast beef from the freezer and froazen sweetcorn. MMMMM!
OH! And this thread - adventures with bread dough, is fabilicious. Warning - contains fattening delicious recipes :rotfl:A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

As someone who loves cheese but can't really eat it because - well, it's complicated:p
I would like to make healthy, frugal and fairly simple cheese-less pizzas for our tea. I like most veggies and garlic, and I don't mind some funny ingredients like chick peas or soya beans and stuff. I also have portions of Dolmio type sauce frozen. Who can come up with a nice recipe for me please:D0 -

Make your dough, cover with sauce, add toppings (loads in this thread) no cheese, cook:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I agree with Penelope. As a vegan I don't have cheese but I never bother with the fake soya cheese as it's vile!
Just top your pizza & sauce with some delicious veggies (and meat if you eat that) and bake. My favourites are artichoke hearts, red onion, red peppers, chillis, asparagus and mushrooms. Yummy!0 -

Yep - I agree. The soya cheese is also very high in fat. I suppose I hadn't twigged that cheese-less pizza is simply the same pizza - cheese-less:o
I would like all those toppings actually. But I might try tuna and sweetcorn or mushroom and... mushroom.
