Right:beer:.

I have been thinking long and hard about the Complete Pizza collection, and have came to the following conclusions.... Please, if anyone has any suggestions or feedback please do pm me

I don't know if I am seeing it clearly, or if my way makes sense to everyone else :D Why do I care? Because I love pizza:j

The idea is this will be the first port of call for making pizzas. Specifically a first timer thread so people can read others first time pizza experience and advice, and also find the links to the other mega threads (or main pizza threads. I just like the word mega:D)

So

Mega threads

General Pizza Tips & Quick Questions

HM Pizza Base Recipes, Tips & Quick Questions

Pizza Dough Recipes Tips & Quick Questions

Pizza Sauce Recipes ,Tips & Quick Questions

Pizza Stone Help

To link to the complete collection, with other smaller threads click here.

That link also contains a menu of links to accompanients for your yummy pizza.

So, there is a first time thread I will merge to this one later, so it makes more sense. It was that thread prompted this one, so thanks :)

Does any of this make sense? Or have I gone pizza mad?!:rotfl::p
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I've got all my ingredients ready but just wondering if anyone can give me a fool proof recipie?

i want to make it from scratch and i am using ham, bacon, mushroom and cheese as hte toppings :) (OH hates any form of tomato so its a bit of a pizza with a difference!)

What will you be using for the base? I'm not certain of the recipe but I have heard of pizzas with a creamy topping rather than a tomato-based one. Have you had a Google for it?

When I asked what you were using for a base I meant the crust. Have you got shop-bought crusts or will you be making them? I generally make home-made pizza from a shop-bought bread-mix just because it's quicker than messing about with dried yeast. If your OH doesn't like tomato-based sauce on his pizza you could smear the crust with pesto sauce and bung your other toppings on that.

Once you've got the crust-making cracked there's no recipe needed: just bung on whatever you have to hand that you fancy on it. I'm quite fond of artichoke hearts and olives. On high days and holidays little anchovies could be on there too, or capers. No pizza ever suffers from having too much cheese on it.

Yep, the trick is to not have the bases too thick and put them in a really hot oven. Over-loading with too many toppings can risk the base getting soggy in the middle.

Pizza base is really just white bread dough rolled out thin, so any bread dough recipe should do the trick. If you haven't found one yet, how about this one - just skip the section about making the tomato sauce.

The only advice I would give is not to go too mad on the toppings - if the layer of cheese is too thick the base will be cooked and at risk of burning before the cheese has melted and browned properly (the voice of experience there! :o). (Oops, I got interrupted mid-post and you've already had part of this conversation. Just ignore that bit!)

I hope you enjoy your pizza.
Back after a very long break!
