Wow i can't believe this thread is still going, lol! It's just a matter of leaving a list of things for someone to do that they don't usually do - if a husband never picks up his children how is he to know when and where exactly in the playground to be???? It's not about being thick at all - if my hubbie asked me to go get a number of tools out of his toolbox, apart from the obvious (hammer, philips, flathead) i'd prob need a full on description of what i'm looking for. Just like when i ask hubbie to set the washing machine, he'll always ask ''can this go in with this'' or ''what letter should i put this on?'' and i don't see it as less inteligent, just he doesn't usually do it so is not familiar with it

Now if OH asked me to go change a wheel on his bike i'd be dumbfounded, lol, but he can do it in a flash. :P
It's the same with cooking or feeding the kids, if it's not your routine you tend not to know what/when things need doing! xMummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -

Now that's the strange thing, as my ex would do the washing and stuff like that, but would forget to feed the kids!! I don't have to tell him how to operate anything, or what to do, but he forgets times and details.
He's as able as I am when it comes to housework etc - it is just a case of him not thinking of others. I suppose he's a bit self-absorbed iyswim?0 -
Well i'm back!! I gues saying it was lighthearted fell on deaf ears for some but hey!!
Dh said he found the note very funny and didn't take offence at all..after being together for 11+ years i think i would know if he would find it offensive or not. I am amazed at some of the responces of me thinking he is thick etc..he's not and that wasn't the point at all.
Do you know after all this time he still doesn't remember what year i was born if he needs to fill in my dob on anything..he still doesnt know the setting for the washing machine..he still doesn't know the right place to stand for dd in the playground as he very rarely does any of them BUT it doesn't make him stupid he just doesn't listen when told!!
To be fair though he had nothing to do thursday from 9.00am until 7pm when dd got home and friday he collected her at 3.30pm, they came home for a bit then he took her out for dinner so didnt really have to do any of the normal things i do and said 'i dont know what all the fuss is about!! (jokingly)'..hmm guess if i got to take dd out every night i wouldn't moan about the cooking etc!
The house was very tidy..he had looked after the workmen for the 2 days as they are doing our garden so was fine..he went shopping and bought some nice bits for the house and collected dd fine! the washing was all done and cats fine..so YES he can do it which again was part of my point in my other post about him doing it when he wants/has to.
Thankyou to those of you with a sense of humour and your replys that describe exactly what i was trying to say!! my hubby does have a sense of humour unline some of the ones on here by the sounds of it!!0 -

Hmmm ... tidied up well after his party did he?;):)Bern :j0 -
I've only just read this thread and found it quite funny. My exOH openly admits to feigning being useless just to get out of jobs - he's even tried to educate my son in the ways of getting women to do everything for him!!One life.0

I laughed my head off..............
I too have left lists like this, in more detail and quite seriously.
I left one for my inlaws when they looked after 2yr old DS....and they went out of their way to do almost the complete opposite!!!!!!!!!!! They live in a different part of the country and don't see him often-they knew better apparently, not when I left 'put him on the potty about 10/11pm....they decided against it and he wet the bed and was distressedOh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY0 -
Hmm well never mind going away for 2 days..iv'e been back 2 days and back to the same old normal cr*p..not a happy bunny tonight.
House a mess his drawers where he has made an 'effort' to tidy his clothes away are crammed so full with screwed up clothes they look terrible and wont even shut..his answer to sorting it is 'buy some bigger ones' grrr..
There is no washing done and i had to ask him to put the dishwasher on as it has been left since i went so now chocka..the cup i left on the side that cant be dishwashered is still there caked in soup remains which i hadnt noticed before..
The floor is filthy in the kitchen and lounge and me and dd have been tidying most of the afternoon.
I could go on but really have had enough..he is just annoying me so much at the mo i feel what is the point..i am banging my head against a brick wall! Maybe you cant please me but i expect a bit of help. Unfortunately i can't just leave it as have new parents round on wed and need to keep it clean..0 -

I know where you are coming from and I find it amusing too.
However, I don't think it's right to suggest those who didn't find it amusing lack a sense of humour.
I think they just have a different sense of humour tbh and I'm sure there is things they'd find amusing that you don't...0 -
