I haven't had chance to properly look at what was announced today, but my initial calculations suggest I will be about £3,200 a year worse off in cider duty.

Haven't checked out the new tax credit / ch ben rates yet, perhaps popping out another kid will cover it? :D

...GD beat me to it :p

    Get 1 baloon
1 gallon water bottle (tesco value will do: discard the water, its horrible)
1 packet of tesco's value bread yeast
several one litre cartons of tesco value apple juice
    a bit of sugar

    preparation:
    make small hole in baloon
    Empty water bottle

    recipy:
put apple juice and sugar into water bottle
    add yeast
    leave in warm place
    put baloon on top.
    juice will start glooping.
    Wait until it stops glooping
    Drink.

    Lovely(ish).
    Henceforth known as "turbo cider".

I'd make that myself. But I have no idea what glooping is, or be able to tell when it's doing it, or indeed, when it's stopped....I could be there for months waiting for a gloop :p

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UwX9FvYssc. Although he's cheating. He has all the proper equipment. You also need to siphon it into bottles, after it has finished fermenting. Maybe have a look at http://www.homewinemaking.co.uk/cgi/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=recipe;action=display;num=1175682348 .

How come you're in a good mood GD- no fuel duty rises? What about car tax?

    On a purely selfish note....

Petrol up, I use the company cars for pretty much everything except ferrying the dog.

Fags up, I buy them from the pub down the road duty free.

Booze up, this may well be a good thing:o

I don't really get any credits or anything worth speaking about from Her Maj so I doubt I will be affected.

I can save more? Yippee. Only I haven't had a wage increase in two years so that isn't really viable.

Heating allowance doesn't really affect me yet and I have a bank account.

So unless I have missed something glaringly obvious, I sort of stay the same. Which I regard as a positive result for me.

I am long past the stage of expecting any help from this government.

I told someone I was going to vote tory a couple of days ago which is the first time I have verbalised it, even to myself.

Nothing in this budget has changed my mind.

    Considering what?

The fact I seem to be paying more and more week by week to get my sorry butt from my house to the hell I call work, in which I spend most of my life, only to find I'm not getting a pay rise this year, but the personal allowance is held, council tax is going up, and NI is going up and council parking charges to park, to work, is also going up.

I have decided to spend an extra 2 hours a week in the hell hole, to pay the rising costs simply to get there.

But on a positive note, houses are going up price, Hamish said so, and this is good. So surely me paying more to spend my one life working forever more to pay out forever more is also absolutely fan frickin tastic.

I'm listening to 80's music though, and dancing on the ceiling has come on, and it's taken the edge off. I was considering having a drink to drown the sorrows, but figured that would now require extra time in the hell pit.
