I would :) I'd freeze it in individual pots as a "free" lunch for work :T

As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread to keep ideas together.

    Hello people,
I'm just making a chorizo bean stew....it smells yummy!

But I have about 50g of chorizo left (sausage form)

Does anyone know how long I can keep it in the fridge for? I won't want to eat it for a week or two and was wondering about freezing it?

    Thanks!!

    ZC
  • I asked this question a few weeks ago... and yes you can freeze it!

And I have eaten some since and it's perfectly fine :D

I always freeze Chorizo sliced up in a bag - it separates really easily even when frozen so you don't have to divide it into portions :)
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

I know that sometimes the packaging says not suitable for freezing but that it couyld be as it compromises the quality, and sometimes because it is unsafe - frustratingly it doesn't say why!

I have bought 4 packs of lovely cooked sliced chicken with stuffing Yellow stickered down to an irresistable price so I took a chance on someone knowing what to do.

It says "Do not freeze" on the back. I know that there is a sort of rule about not cooking twice but wondered if it would be OK if I froze it and then cooked it through with gravy once defrosted?

I'm probably going to take a chance to be honest as before I started reading these forums I would have frozen and used without giving it a second thought, but now wondering if I should give DS (3) something different when DH and I eat it.

    Thanks in advance.

It's probably been frozen already, so the advice is not to freeze it again. Obviously up to you what you actually do ;)

I'll add this to the Food Safety thread later, to keep ideas together.

Thanks PP, do you know what the reason is - so I can make an informed descision. If it's a tummy ache then I'll take the risk, but don't reallly want to bump anyone off what with it being Christmas and all that!
