Definately the gym for me - I've not got the nerve to run round where I live (what if someone saw me ) and apart from that it's really dark and too close to the city centre to be safe iykwim.

I think once you build up a bit the gym gets really boring - I liked it when I was doing up to 5 mins running, then walking or whatever because it was easier to see the times, but I think 20 mins on the treadmill would kill me. I don't worry so much about running outside because I run around the river in Belfast and mostly it's just other runners and people with dogs. Although I did once run into a bunch of boys but at least i'm old enough that I'm invisible to them :) I also mostly run first thing in the morning and you don't get the hoodie element out at that time of day :D

Feeling very sore today from my sports massage, my skin is even sore to the touch and I suspect if my bum wasn't so well padded I'd be bruised. Still apparently if it isn't hurting it isn't working. I was def too stiff to try running today but might try for another run tomorrow if it's settled down.

    Welcome to all the newbies!

Hello to everyone, especially the newbies and the returners. It is the roads for me or the fens near where I live. I don't have a gym membership anymore as I never got arond to going and it just wasn't very MSE:)
Like you Belfastgirl23 I am invisible to the youths and I also run early in the morning. Its a kind of, get it "over and done with" mentality. ruby_eskimo I wish I had an I-pod touch as I hate the music on the podcasts. I must admit though the thump thump thump is very good for making you run faster.
Love reading this and finding how everyone is getting on. Keep going folks
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D

I'm happy that I'm not the only one doing stretches then lol. I should do really, seem to remember a linky on the thread - must go look for it.

Has anyone done spinning classes? I went a few times a few years ago and seem to remember then. Might see if there are any locally that don't require subscription to a gym!

Didn't do my run today like I was going to, ended up going to the hairdressers and getting home as it was starting to get dark. Haven't lived here long and not really comfortable running around at night yet so will do it tomorrow now :)
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

teachergirl - I did use the original podcasts but I really didn't like the music! The only problem is you can't lock the ipod while the app is running so you kind of have to either keep hold of the bloody thing or put it in your pocket and hope for the best!

About 30 seconds from my house there is a massive playing field with rugby pitches and one lap of the field and pitches takes me 45 minutes so it's pretty good really!

Thinking of joining the local college gym when I get paid so I have something to do on my *off* days.

hi everyone, I have just done my week 2 run 3. it was really hard work! I did it outside and am still finding it harder running outside than on the treadmill. I still don't want to give up! yet!

'Just been wondering whereabouts do you all run: the park?, streets? beach?
Would be interested to know. '

I prefer the gym and have only run twice outside and only when its dark!

'Does anyone do anything on their "rest" days? I think I might put in an hour or so on the Wii Fit, just so that I don't feel that I'm too lazy. '

I sometimes do my exercise DVD or go-on the trampoline, i used to love getting up early and exercising but recently I just can't drag myself out of bed until I've hit the snooze button atleast 4times:mad:

Welldone ginvzt,:T bet your really pleased with yourself, I would be! How long did it take you to get this far.

    Keep going everyone!:j

I sometimes do my exercise DVD and my mum and me are starting bums, tums and thighs next week :o quite scared of people laughing at how unfit we are!

I don't do stretches, I'm far too lazy too :rotfl:

The soreness should go away within the next few runs, if you aren't damaging yourself :)
Bums legs and tums isn't just about being fit. Depending on the class it can be dancey, so even fit people can struggle if they have no co-ordination. That's actually a good thing, because then you can laugh at yourself/other people and enjoy it more.

The first time you will struggle, as they'll say "raise your knee" and you'll be like "!!!!, what's my knee?!" or my problem is I get on the wrong leg, correct it, and then go wrong 2 seconds later.

Well my trainer buying didnt happen as I went over budget on my food shop:mad: so I will have to re check my funds :o!
....and in the meantime get my dd's wii fit out. I think I was getting good on that, with a burn rate of about 175% (whatever that means:D) on the island run and no trainers required.
Just thinking though....what do others do when jogging on the spot like a woman possessed in front of a window. My neighbours would wonder what the hell I was doing ....so I shut the curtains:rotfl::rotfl:ok so I am a coward:eek:

Thank you!!! I have started the program last June(?). But I only managed to start week 3 as I had holiday away, then surgery and other things going on. I have 'restarted' the program begining of March and jumped straight to the Week 2. So far I managed to do a week in a week, if that makes sense.

I am running slowly, so I will need to get working on my speed once I get a bit more fit.
