Pop in for a coffee on your way past
The geek in me has to know - is it a program on your bike, did you download it or did you just work it out yourself? (sorry for badgering you with questions but this is the kind of thing i would like to do - real challenge)
Exercise bike is a real basic model - turn the dial for resistance. Just about has a digital display, so did it ourselves.
Just put John O groats and Landsend into multimap and printed off the directions! It gives the total mileage and a breakdown along the way, so I just tick off as I've reached a new direction. Am fitting it in when DS has a sleep, then another stint at night if possible. Am averaging 28kms per day so far, which I'm happy with as it's fitting around everything else (plus I get bored after a while)

Hi Thanks for that - I'm going to have a wee look and sort one out for myself. I get bored just cycling on the exercise bike for the sake of it. :T0 -

Excellent - great that we can inspire each other.
Now, to see if I can actually run... :rotfl: I'm sure my body wasn't made for it. It's been a standing joke for years, my maiden name was Walker, so 'walker by name, walker by nature'. Lets see if I can prove it wrong! Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -
Just been wondering whereabouts do you all run: the park?, streets? beach?
Would be interested to know.0 -

Streets for me. I like in the middle of Edinburgh. There is a park quite nearby but I haven't gone there yet (might have to investigate).Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -

When I start, mine will round the streets. We live on a newish estate with wide paths, well lit etc. All quite visible, so feel quite safe.
Will be great with the light nights after the weekend though. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -

Gym - too scared to show myself in public!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Oooh, shiny new thread - thanks Drea
Ok, so I completed my Week 1 Run 2 today :j It was actually a lot easier than the first one - maybe because I knew what to expect? I don't like to read too far ahead as it scares me - from the other thread I understand that Week 4+ gets a bit hairy, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it
Busiscoming2 - I run in a park with my dog. Don't think he's used to me going faster than a snails pace. Although I did notice today that when I was "jogging" he was keeping up with more of a leisurely trot, so I can't have been going that fast :rotfl:
There were loads of joggers this morning, and one lucky lady in some tiny running shortsOh well, that'll be me one day!
Does anyone do anything on their "rest" days? I think I might put in an hour or so on the Wii Fit, just so that I don't feel that I'm too lazy.
Also, what stretches do you do before and after? I thought I would be ok with just the 5min walking before and after, but maybe not, as it huuuurts to walk down the stairs

If the weather is nice, we try and get out for a walk after work on 'rest' days. If not - it is just milling around the house and similar. Maybe going to Tesco's to do weekly shopping!
I don't do any stretches before or after - I am just too lazy. (Ok, I admitted it...) I have been lucky so far that I didn't really have muscle ache this time so far. Well, tell me that after Run 3 this week (week 5).Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

I sometimes do my exercise DVD and my mum and me are starting bums, tums and thighs next weekquite scared of people laughing at how unfit we are!
I don't do stretches, I'm far too lazy too :rotfl:
The soreness should go away within the next few runs, if you aren't damaging yourselfJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
