bertlebops, please don't go to JJB sports - it's essentially a fashion sports shop rather than a sports shop for people who want to do sports :) go to a proper running shop to get fitted and then search online for a cheaper alternative if you're really worried about the cost. Otherwise you're just throwing good money after bad!

Saw my sports massage guy today :) turns out my bum muscles are atrophying due to a tilted pelvis and my hamstrings are very tight - he worked at my bum to try to release the muscle tension and it's pretty sore now. He recommended doing pilates to help rebalance me and gave me this website http://www.ultimatepilatesworkouts.com/
Mostly I have to work on exercises to engage the glutes and stretch the hamstrings.

At least it's good to see what the problem is but I think it will take some work to sort it out.

I had been planning to do another run tomorrow but suspect I'll be too sore, will do it on Thurs instead.

Hope everyone else is getting on well and thanks for starting us off again Drea :)

I got my trainers from JD...they had them in the reduced section, they're a pair of white Nikes....cant remember what thing they are but they're made for running and stuff.

Got my sports bra in M&S and am pleasantly surprised (36F, bra was £18) Keeps me in place really well.

Hi guys and girls, I am re-starting my C25K program and joining the gym at the same time! I've got a really good ipod touch app for c25k which allows you to use your own music in a playlist and then it's a voice telling you to run and walk at the proper times depending on which week you're doing. It also beeps 3 times to give you some warning when its going to change! My shoes are Nike ones for running that I got in the sale a few years ago for £35. They are so comfortable! Going for my first week 1 run tomorrow!

I did my first Week 5 run 1 yesterday! I managed ok, no problem at all. I even increased the running speed for the last minute! I might be able to do Run2 tomorrow, but I bet I won't manage the Run 3! (Or I will be almost dead and have to be carried home!)

Hello all. I looked out my WW books on Sunday and started that on Monday so exercise begins next Monday. The program I'm using is a net based one that I printed off but I know alot of you are using the IPod one. The thing is I don't own an IPod so excuse the stupid question but is it an app your using or would I be able to download it and put it onto my MP3 player (it's a Sony one)?

Just looked and there is an MP3 one - oops! That's what happens when you don't read everything properly.

    Can I join in, please.

I've never run in my life, but saw something on a Netmums email about a 8 week program to build up to 5k. Feeling in need of a challenge at the moment, so am going to go for it, starting after Easter weekend.
Hubby has an ipod touch though, so thinking about this app you are talking about. Not techie at all, so what exactly is it called so I can get him to download it. (ignore that - just re-read the 1st thread)

Am doing a cycling challenge on the exercise bike at home (John O groats to Lands End as quickly as possible - am nearly at Glasgow!!). All this sunshine and spring air is making me want to go outside though.

    Thanks all
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

I started again this morning ... a friend and I have signed up for a Race for Life 5K in July, so hopefully that will motivate me too.

Went ok, was a bit tough and had to stop halfway through to stretch shin area ... but feeling all the better for it. Didn't over do it like I usually do when I start again. Was weird to be running when it's light and there are people around .. felt very self conscious too.

Now have to lock the next one in for Friday morning ... which means getting up early, which I really don't like to do!

I wish they had those apps for the nano, would make life so much easier!

Pop in for a coffee on your way past :D

The geek in me has to know - is it a program on your bike, did you download it or did you just work it out yourself? (sorry for badgering you with questions but this is the kind of thing i would like to do - real challenge)

Hello to the new starters (or returners) :) at least there will be some other people on week 1 too!

I'll be out for my run tonight. Instead of doing mine 3 times a week I'm just doing it every other day and if I have to miss a day I'm not going to worry myself. Last time I was put off with having such a strict time on doing things. Trying to be more relaxed about it this time :)
