Some news from me! Valuation was on Wednesday, adviser has received the offer confirmation back via email this afternoon. Has said I should receive the confirmation by post too, hopefully tomorrow or Monday.
Hoping to exchange end of next week, complete the week after! Has taken a while, but looks to be getting there now! Hopefully everyone else here will get the same thing after their vals early next week.0 -

Congrats VortexSteve! That's great news... makes me think I should hopefully get an offer early next week too :j
How come you think it will only take a week to exchange? Does it normally happen that quickly? Are you in a chain?Current Debt Owed To Family: [STRIKE]£12,575[/STRIKE] £9,000 :wall:Estimated Debt Free... [STRIKE]Dec 2012[/STRIKE] Aug 2012

Really pleased to hear someone has got their mortgage from Abbey!! My buyer is still waiting to hear 6 weeks after survey and has agreed the extra 5% deposit that Abbey requested this week. But, still no more news. As usual, it will probably be another week before they hear anything, as seems the case with Abbey.0 -

There are 4 houses in the chain, mine was the last offer to come in. Everyone else has been ready for the last 2 weeks! Everything from the solicitor is ready (other than him getting the copy of mortgage offer) so hopefully he can turn that round quickly next week. Just got to sign a few bits and then we're done in theory!
Hope you're offer comes in next week too!0 -
More news... offer has arrived in the post today. There is a copy of the valuation in there too, it has not been down valued.
Biggest issue is they have set the term at 30 years rather than 25! I watched the adviser fill this in on the online application so can only assume they have screwed it up at their end. The problem I have is everyone in the chain is pushing for 30th April completion, and if I need to get this changed that date is not going to happen. Am I right in thinking that I can simply over pay each month at a figure to match a 25 year repayment, and then in 2 years time when I re-mortgage (won't be with Abbey!!) just make sure the new lender puts it back at 25 years?
Also received everything from the solicitor today which means I am now in a position to exchange, really just need to decide on that 25/30 year issue.0 -
Congrats VortexSteve! Thats obviously a big relief for you. Re the overpayment, if its a fixed mortgage, you will probably be able to overpay by £500 a month, if its flexible, you should be able to overpay what you like. Check out online what your particular product says about overpayments.0
