Thanks guys for all your dreams, a lot of them have been very helpful. Some just a little weird.0 -
dont judge books by there covers.. it annoys me no end..
Agreed!
Surely that should work both ways too?My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say

Something doesn't add up. 'Listening' to this thread could help you offer a better service. People contributing to this thread could be your clients.
Maybe you took the shoe thing personally, when from what I've read it was only an example, not the be all and end all. Let's move on from that.
Of course "what not to do" is going to factor in making something better, and of course its generalised as this is an impersonal, internet forum.
If you think you are already a perfect EA, fine, leave us to discuss the reality of confusion, mis-communication, poor manners, disorganisation, dishonesty, outright lies, and blatantly illegal practices (see the 'agent insists I use their mortgage/solicitor' thread - is that the dream EA?)
Just because you do do the things being suggested does not mean 90% of the rest of EAs do. Otherwise there would not be the automatic gut reaction for the majority of the population, to put them towards the bottom in any number of surverys; http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3405295.stm
Denial is expected of politicians. I thought we had some honest EAs, here.0 -

I don't recall implying or posting that I was perfect....far from it. I'm constantly looking for ways to improve what I do and listening to other people experiences helps me to be a better EA.
My issue is that many posters imply that EVERY EA is deceitful, disorganised, bad mannered, dishonest etc etc.
I just found the shoe thing, which brought up on several occasions, to be extremely petty. Talk about judging a book by it's cover!
Why do you think I take time out of my day to post on here if it's not to help people and to try and open peoples minds that we are not all bad?
I don't agree with every single post, however, I do have respect for a lot of posters, you included Cannon Fodder. I just wish that some posters showed the same amount of respect.
I am sorry if I've offended anyone, that was not my intention. I am extremely passionate about what I do and I realise that my posts don't always come across in the way I intend them to.My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. I certainly don't think all EAs are all bad. As I've already mentioned a number of times I've been fortunate to come into contact with a number of them who have been absolutely brilliant, thank goodness.
Based on my experiences with a quite large number of agents over the last year I took time out of my day and offered some suggestions for a new estate agent. Those suggestions did not go down well, perhaps I constructed my posts badly. That is unfortunate, but in no way do I lack respect; however I do loathe lack of professionalism in those whose expertise I have to rely on. I do not apologise for that, nor for describing what I felt were valid examples of it.
Agreeing, or not, with posts in this thread is your perogative, but as I understood it, the thread was started to ask we punters who pay the bills to design OUR dream estate agent. That was all I did.My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

From dealing with solicitors and explaining the associated jargon to the vendor, keeping track of the chain, instructing HIPs and professional photographers, money laundering requirements, and general handholding.
Who do you currently use for your HIP's?Help me!

We use a couple of independent guys to do our HIP's. We don't get a kickback but we do get a good service. We generally get the finished article back to us by start of business the day after the HIP provider has visited the property. Why? Are you touting for business?!0
