Sorry don't know my FSO from my OFT.

A year-long OFT study into the housing market concluded that a lack of competition for traditional estate agents was an issue,
"Encouraging new business models, online estate agents and private seller platforms could put useful competitive pressure on traditional models and lead to better value for buyers and sellers."

    Here's a thought........why I don't I start a thread titled

"What does every hate about Estate Agents"

I bet it would be the most read and responded to thread.....ever

Then everyone can get their frustrations out of their systems and people who have genuine questions can get post stuff without having to read all this rubbish?

Offering to take off your shoes is a token of respect. It not even being an issue is true respect. As is turning up properly briefed about the property and the area.

If you think that the majority of people posting on this thread hate estate agents then you haven't been reading it properly or listening to what people are trying to say. Which, come to think of it, is the biggest gripe there has been with EAs on the thread.

adg1 has clarified what I was trying to say beautifully (thank you :)) none of the EAs reading this appear to understand fully what is being said to them here. Throughout the tendancy has been to tell us how good you all are and berate us for not appreciating your profession.

I'm giving up now. As I said at the outset, I had no opinion about EAs before I had to deal with them. Since then I have developed a poor opinion of the majority of EAs and very great respect for a few of them.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

I fully understand what has been said on this thread, more than you know, because it's what I do on a daily basis and what I have done for 16 years. Telling me that I should be more concerned with turning up to valuations fully prepared, briefed about the proeprty and area is absurd......what do you think EA's do??

I've dealt with thousands of clients over this period and have been very successful, as have many of my colleagues. You've dealt with, what, 4 estate agents, who may or may not have been rubbish, depending on your perception and in-built, obvious, disdain for anyone that is not you!

Was is not you that made an issue of high heels?? Like I said before, everyone loves to hate an estate agent, it gives them common ground with a lot of posters.

It's nothing more than playground bullying......find the (perceived) weakest and pick on them.

And this is the last time I shall post on this thread, you can carry on thinking you are superior to me.......bothered!
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

dont judge books by there covers.. it annoys me no end..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

    QUOTE]

That is my point, too many DON'T turn up prepared! And that applies to valuations and viewings.

If I cannot base my opinions on my experiences to date, what do you suggest I use instead?

None of my observations have been aimed at you personally. I'm sorry you have taken them that way.
