I know, and you didn't get a reply. I suspect the OP was given a reference number, but not a crime reference number.
TBH, years ago it was common to claim a lost purse or wallet, before making a claim for a crisis loan.0 -

It'll be a reference or lost property number so the police can contact you if the purse is handed in.
The SF asks for a reference number as some proof that the loss has occurred as its the logical thing to do in the situation (what would you do if you had lost your purse/wallet - take all reasonable steps to see if you could find it before ringing for a crisis loan surely - if the purse is sat there in the police lost property department you don't need a crisis loan do you?).
A crisis loan is only paid for immediate living expenses to cover the period until next income - regardless of what it the money lost was originally intended to pay for - so the OP would never have been paid £300 unless she/he had a partner and army of children anyway.Who's going to fly your plane? / When you need to make your getaway....0 -

The *ahem* error you made was saying that the payment was for rent which the Social Fund will not replace, although they might replace it if that money was intended to buy food, gas etc etc. But I suspect that it might be to late now as they would have taken a record of your original phone call
You could apply for a budgeting loan, there you are just applying for a amount of money, trouble is is that they are not particulary fast
Agreed. Fools rush in and that is what the OP has done with the crisis loan application.
I used to pay my £900 rent in cash into a bank account as I didn't have an account to transfer it from. I do now. But when I used to walk around with £900 (which does not faze me as I've carried tens of thousands before) I know that I cannot replace it. I don't lose a purse or forget whether it was a bank or a post office I was at. I don't chat on my mobile phone or stop at the pub or go buy anything. I go from A to B and sort out the transaction.
The reason why there are no loans for this is because chavs and the like lie and say they have lost it when it has been spent on booze and drugs and other "important" stuff.
Where is the emergency fund or has that been "lost" as well ?0 -
Why not just pay your rent from your JSA for a couple of months? Buy some rice and beans (3 tins for a pound in Sainsbury just now.)0

The OP pays her mother 80.00 per week for a loan, which is why I suggested that keeping a roof over her children's heads was a higher priority and she should use this money to pay her rent.
I think that this also applies to feeding her family.0 -
If the OP can pay her mother £80 a week then something is seriously wrong with the benefits system as she is being overpaid at least £80 a week.0

The money is for a loan her mother took out for her.
If the loan was for a car surly you can sell the car and use the money to pay off the remainder of the loan. Then you will be £80 per week better off, and get a buspass which is prob about £40 a month0 -
Think this question has been answered in full now. The OP has been given good advice and it is now for her to decide how to address the issue, rather than anyone else commenting on her decisions.
