you get a crime number, if you lose anythink, and report it to the police.
a few years back i lose my phone and the insurance said i had to report it 2 the police before i got a new 1. So i phoned up about my purse, and they give me a crime number.
I have checked my house insurance and no its not covers, if it was 500 quid it would of been. thanks all, im just going to be behind with my rent!

Do you have anything to sell on ebay for cash on collection, and do a 1 day auction.. doesnt have to be expensive items, just bits and bobs you no longer want.. that would enable you to pay a little of the rent..♥♥♥Life is too short to wake up with regrets ♥ So love the people who treat you right. ♥ Forget about the one’s who don’t ♥ Believe everything happens for a reason ♥ If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands ♥ If it changes your life, let it ♥ Nobody said life would be easy, they just promise it would be worth it ♥0

And couldn't get help from family or friends etc. way before ebay was on the scene for me to sell stuff.0 -
You could try for a discretionary housing payment from your LA.0

As the OP is on full benefit, I can understand the LL asking for cash - no offence OP. Many LL refuse to accept benefit claimants full stop. Few will accept HB payments directly because if an overpayment occurs, the person who received the payment has to repay it.
OP - sorry to hear that this has happened to you. Somebody asked about household insurance; do you have it and have you checked if lost cash is covered?
As you have a child, have you tried Social Services? I don't know if it still applies but I remember that under the Children's Act SS were obligated to assist if the situation put a child's welfare at risk. I used to work in housing and tenants on benefits would get money (loans) and/food if their benefits were stopped suddenly or benefit cheques were lost in the post (back in the day when they still sent out cheques) and they had no way of feeding their kids. However you might not want to involve SS in your life, which I totally understand.
Can you ask friends or family?
Good luck anyway.0 -

I agree - especially as your landlord doesn't sound particulrly sympathetic. Rent only needs to be 8 weeks in arrears before LL can serve you with a notice seeking possession.0
