My Sports Nutrition book recommends the following:
- Exercise
- Add muscle
- Eat small meals often through the day
- Get enough protein
- Eat a good breakfast
- Go for a walk after a meal
- Check portion sizes
Sticking to these guidelines as much as poss did wonders for me when I was trying to raise mine
the only problem is its playing havoc with my calorie intake, I pretty much have to eat 2000k cals a day now, when i started i could get away with 1300ish, i am now on 6 meals every day :rotfl:
oh and I have gone into ketosis the last 2 times i did cardio :eek:0 -
wow i have done a marathon this month :j:j:j:j
27.3 miles in 11 hours :j
not bad for a someone who on Jan 4 was super super morbildy obese and could only just get upstairs and has a knackered knee from a bike accident..0 -
Vixarooni - forgot to say: now I have met the delightful granny, she is definitely is a !!!!!! you know:D
Dan Snow - a minger:eek: No no no no no no no.
kpc - I'll see if I feel more of an 'artist' by the end of the month. Definitely at the scary, 'am I good enough' stage at the mo which is probably more than normal pre exhibition. However, feel free to bragg about me to whoever:D
Victory - 80%:T:T Well done. And you never said to the superviser you would always get 100%, she just decided to put you down the moment you did well on your first one, becasue is is deeply unpleasant.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

From the weight losses you've posted up recently I don't think the increased cals are a 'problem'. I'm on the 6 meals a day plan too, I eat every 2 hours between 0900 and 1900. Never thought it would work for me, but I started over a year ago and it's been fab

victory Don't be gutted 80% is still fantastic - and have you asked her what her scores were when she did it...?
Fellpony Break out that champagne - that's fantastic news. At times like this I'd say "calories - shmalories" celebrate!!!
dmv My latest craving is turkey breast fajitas. I try to use as little oil as possible and fill them with veg and salad. Yummy.
katmad sh*t happens don't beat yourself up about it. You've got until Wednesday to work it off - it'll be fine. I think we should all tie ourselves on - do wagons have seatbelts?
BB Hope you exhibition goes great (sorry thought I'd mentioned this before and just realised I hadn't, didn't mean to be rude) - any chance of some pics of your work?0 -
Missy and Eric Could you explain the six meals a day menu to me. May give it a go it I can fit in round current work and training.0
-
Vixstar, you can arrange it any way that suits you really - here's a rough outline of mine from an old post
. I did say in it that if I were on reduced calories I'd go down to 5 meals/day but I've tried that and actually I prefer to stick at 6, even if it means most of the 'meals' are only about 200 cal each.
Let us know how you get on if you give it a try!0 -

missy can't remember how to work out how many cals are needed per day per weight height etc can you help me with a good website?0 -
Looks fesible though may have to work to a five meal plan as it would fit in with my day better - or maybe split breakfast up and do seven. This is going to take some thinking about as I generally don't work to calories per meal, ut it may help with my two training sessions on weekdays as I generally find I'm starving or forget to eat and then burn out. Hmm studying and number crunching this weekend0

Victory this is the one I used to use:
Imperial BMR calculator
or Metric BMR calculator
Once you know your BMR, you can then calculate your
Daily calorie needs to maintain
and then, if applicable
Calorie needs to lose weight
More number crunchingHope it helps! Well done on your results BTW! :T
Edit: I should add that it's a guide only and everyone's different. For example my maintain cals come out at over 2000/day because of my activity level, but I've never been able to consume that much without gaining weight.
