Well done margaret - what an achievement! I took lessons a few years ago and though I had been swimming for years I'd never had any lessons so it was great to finally learn all the proper strokes (well not all, I've never been able to master butterfly):D It makes such a difference being able to swim up & down without placing unneccessary strain on your body though not stroking properly. I'm doing a 2.5k swim this weekend for charity - that'll be you next year! :D

i had a quick health check up on wed, doc said heart sounded fine and BP was 124/78 which is bloody amazing for super giant jumbo like me

I am trying a little experiment with what I eat, I am going to reduce the amount of carbs I eat a fraction and replace it with healthy oils and fats (extra virgin cold pressed rapeseed £6 a bottle in tesco, and a selection of nuts) to see if that has any difference

I was currently on 45% carb / 20% Fat-Oil / 35% protein, I am going to try and jig it to 33% for each but keeping the same calorie intake.

I made some wedges in the actifry last night with the rapeseed oil and they where fine which was surprising when you consider how healthy it is.

i think this is the one i got from tescos

my hunger cravings have gone today-funny it coincides with not going to the gym--i must be running on the starvation rations compared to the output of energy-i have eaten 2 small meals today -its 6.30pm and i dont feel hungry-could be all in the mind from the anxiety of pushing myself hard!
one simple trick with carbs eric is to only eat 1 portion at any meal-people tend to mix pasta and bread etc in this wicked world-i expect i am talking to one who already is wise!

we wouldn't mix bread and pasta in the uk, we would however deep fry the pasta in batter and then put it on a pizza and then put the whole lot in a burger :D

the nuts seam surprisingly good at sedating hunger thou, had 30g of them about 4 hours ago with some tinned tuna, not hungry at all.

Margaretclare - that's fantastic, congratulations! :D Have a good swim this evening! By the way I agree with Granny about 0.2kg gain being nothing - we can gain that from drinking a smallish glass of water!

Hezza, I totally agree on the value of swimming lessons, my swimming now is unrecognisable from the 'head up breaststroke' I was doing before! I'm doing mostly br, bk & fc but getting some extra tuition with butterfly soon. Good luck with your sponsored swim this weekend, let us know how you get on! Can I ask what goggles you use? I've tried many but I've always had this problem that goggles start cutting into my face after about 50 lengths, and if I go over 100 it becomes almost unbearable. Having said that, I've got two new pairs (recommended on the exercise thread) which I haven't tried at 50+ yet :).

Eric & de1amo - I happily eat a slice of bread with my pasta. Yum! :D
