Eric, you might be able to work out your approx rate of muscle gain using some of the values & formulae at this link. For example, it says a male in the first year of serious bodybuilding training, can on average expect to potentially gain 2lb of lean muscle per month. I'm sure you'll be able to find other references for this kind of thing, knowing your penchant for stats etc.
There's a point where it's impossible physiologically to naturally gain muscle any faster so if you can work out the maximum you're likely to achieve in a week, that might help with your calcs?
For me, a female 3 years into doing lots of cardio but relatively little resistance work, I reckon my potential for lean muscle gain is a maximum of about 1kg per year (and that's probably pushing it!). Last year according to my analyser scales even though I stepped up my exercise, my muscle gain averaged over the year was zero!0 -

wow that's great many thanks, ill play with that tonight :j
I am lucky in that my body has a natural dispensation to gain muscle and being 6' 2" and having a large frame theres plenty of room to add muscle too, when i was training before my target weight was in the 18-19 stone range with 10% body fat, as a downside it hates cardio / endurance stuff i struggle badly with anything past 30 mins, so a skinny marathon runner i will never be (i hope)0 -
hezza heard about the job yet?:D

Thanks Hezza. Yep, day 3 of phase 1, looking forward to Saturday when I can slip the odd square of 85% dark choc in after a fat meal, and I can stop eating stir fries for breakfast!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Before this, had been hovering around 75.6 kg for many weeks.
Something's happening at last!

Can anyone recommend a decent one?
I would recommend this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rosemary-Conley-Brand-Work-Out-Coleen/dp/B000VG8WGW/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1269428159&sr=8-10
It's not overly demanding, the music is quite good.
It's split into about 5 or 6 X 10 minute sections and it has a counter on the screen.
This means you can mix n match the length.
You can also mix n match your routine.
Each one concentrates on something different e.g. bums & thghs, so you can tailor and mix up your routines.
You can also check the 33 reviews on Amazon.
The ladies doing the exercise are all real life women who have lost weight and Rosemary tells you a bit about them.
They are not super skinny size zero models but real women who look good and healthy.
I would say this was a really good one to start with for your first one.
At only £4.99 then you can of course purchase some different ones, once your convinced that exercising to a DVD works for you.
I like dancing but some of them can be a bit demanding.
I would also suggest trying to incorporate some activity with your family.
Going for a walk or cycle ride can be pleasant and doesn't have to be sweaty and excessive.0 -
to all newbies
victory Glad you and DS watched the annorexia programme. It's so easy to fall into that trap at that age.
Well done Dinah - that's a fantastic loss :T
Hezza got my fingers crossed for you and
I weighed myself on Sunday (yep I know it wasn't a Wednesday but my clothes were irritating me cos they were so tight and I had to see the damage) and nearly had a fight with the scales 11st 6 3/4 . That's what happens when you eat cr*p for a week! So the old WW books came out and I've been point watching since Monday morning. Yep starting again. It's working though cos I'm pleased to announce 0.75lbs loss since Monday. I'm down on the last chart as a loss of 0.5lb so I'm gonna post a loss of 0.25lbs this week and take it from there if that's ok with everyone.0
