i have 30lbs to loose --84kgs down to 70kgs--its a big percentage and i gave up drinking months ago --i have no vices left to salvage a change lol--so far my gym work is haphazard and without aim because i dont feel as energetic and flexible as i use to--i feel like a bag of old bones tonight but i want to go again tomorrow because i am not working much -i am aiming at 2,2lbs a week or 1kg-not much has shifted so far but i feel better about myself despite the aches!!--i hate glipsing myself in all those mirrors--not the gyms fault but my shape!!
İ cant follow the diets you have because of my situation so i am trying to create my own ---i will do my food list for the past 2 days-
Sunday breakfast--a bit of salad -olives -small amount of low fat cheese -and a couple of slices of bread- tea with uht semi skimmed milk-skipped lunch as not hungry-at gym-a litre of water --dinner a sea fish baked in no sauce with a couple of boiled potatoes and a big bowl of salad--an apple to complete the day--plenty of water after the gym.
Today -salad and olives with lf cheese again-2 slices of bread-a cuppa-lunch a small tin of tuna on diet rye bread-8 almond nuts and a cup of green tea--tea time -homemade soup- tomato with spaghetti in--dinner a bowl of chick beans and 2 slices of bread--always small slices--i will have another apple later and maybe a cup of coffee to live dangerously!!
Am i being sensible or over doing it while exercising?
Ahh I dream of only having to loose 30lbsI have to loose 105 KGs in total, you have no idea how hard it is to write that down... And that's working on a target weight of around 113kgs but I am big and have a lot of muscle, I will get my BMI calculated accurately with an aim of carrying 10-15% body fat.
As for the diet, there is no one fool proof system, you have to devise a system that works for you based on your lifestyle, the foods you like, what's available to you and your budget. If after a couple of weeks with the new gym work and diet you are not loosing your very sensible goal of 2lbs a week then you may need to cut back on some of the more energy dense foods like olives, olive oil, cheese, but give it a couple of weeks first and see how it goes. Try to eat lean protein with two meals a day, fish (try to go for less oily fish) and chicken are fine, it does not have to be expensive even cheap tinned tuna is fine.
As for the gym, its critical that you build up to is slowly after such a long holiday from exercise, its dangerous to suddenly go at it full blast you risk injury and even problems with your heart. Build up to is slowly. Its also critical to rest and allow your muscles to heal especially if you are doing any kind of strength regime. If your muscles ache or are sore its there way of telling you they are injured and need to heal, If i get like this i stop training until it heals. My regime works like this.
Cardio Day
Strength Day
Rest Day0 -

lol just had a good laugh reading the low carb diet thread.
came across this fantastic comment from the "new" atkins diet website
http://www.thestarpress.com/article/20100407/LIFESTYLE/4070307
Q: Why cut so much fruit?A: The way Atkins works is it suppresses appetite and hunger, and you can't do that if you have a lot of sugar in the diet. Fruit is sugar with some fiber. In the induction phase, you eat avocados, olives and tomatoes, which are fruits. And in Phase 2 (ongoing weight loss), you introduce berries and melons.
Well the way it suppresses hunger is from protein intake and you do not need to have any fat to get the same effect, you can also avoid cheese with its addictive opiates
Well Im afraid the sugar bit is utter rollocks as well, lets see at 7.30 i ate 2 nannas and 2 apples, loaded with carbs and fruit sugars. 8.30 I tread-milled for 68 mins. 10.00 with no hunger pains, cravings etc I had some protein (yesterday was a strength training day) and now its coming up to 12.30 and lunch time and ohhh guess what still no hunger pains or cravings :rotfl:
One day someone at atkins will read further back and realise for many millions of years we lived solely on carbs and nuts
Shame my hi carb diet is not allowing me to loose weight, maybe that's where I am going wrong ..0 -
thanks Eric-clarifying as usual-i am not a patient type of person and your voice of reason helps me keep grounded-i feel better today and the aches and pains dissolved overnight-i did a good morning of cardio and fat burning-i am very cautious with my heart beat and dont stress over the recommended limit for my age and weight--strange they never take into account height on those machines!-i feel i progressed by upping slightly my levels from the very low start- i sweated a bit and that makes me feel good!
Fortunately out here good food doesnt cost the earth-although tuna does!!-i shared a small chicken with my wife for lunch and it was 2 pounds- spit roast-i could eat chicken every day of the week!!-i was nibbling on nuts when i got really hungry yesterday but it takes a lot of resistance not to get carried away-nuts are a big protein source here and easily available and seem good value- a lb of almonds costs 2 squid-i have no idea what things like that cost back there!
Heres hoping you get to your target this week.mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -

Sounds like you have it sorted, if your pushing too hard your body will tell you, you will get over tired, faint, dizzy, start to ache, get sore, start to sleep more than normal etc
chicken is perfect especially with a green salad, rice, pasta etc, nuts are a great food but they are energy dense so a little caution may be needed.
tuna is very cheap here 38p for a tin in Aldi, nuts are pretty expensive in comparison.0 -
lo all, thought I'd posted yesterday but looks like not! Glad you are all enjoyingh the sunshine!0
