Rach you are a keen walker aren't you, will you be off-roading with it?! Its just I had a second-hand silver cross buggy and I killed it on dirt tracks. With DD2 I bought a super duper new quinny one, with 16 different positions and so on, but mainly used a baby sling (baby bjorn the're great), though there have been safety issues with some slings in the press lately. DD2 didn't like the buggy either, but here's a thought, they reckon speech develops better if you get a buggy where the child faces towards, rather than away from you - something to think about later.
This baby will need to be a girl otherwise it will look a bit funny in a shocking pink travel system:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
:rotfl::rotfl: Yes, we do walk a lot though even an off roader wouldn't work on some of the walks we do - will def be getting a good sling too, the babybjorn was recommended in the ramblers magazine recently. I am not bothered about a travel system as we use the car so rarely and I intend to keep it that way - i will get a carseat that stays in the car. The one i am looking at is http://www.mountainbuggy.com/urban_jungle.htm (but the older models which have a different manufacturer and are apparently better) which is £100 in great condition, so even if the baby doesn't like it we'd not have lost so much. I would tell my mother i'd got a new carrycot but actually they've got some almost perfect ones on ebay and could buy a new mattress ;)

Rach - I bought my pram new for lots of money (an all terrain three wheel walking one) and then hardly used it. Both my boys hated being in one :o.
    exactly my worry!

sorry for going off topic, i'll leave it now!

I have also seen a really good pushchair (mountain buggy) on netmums at a great price, my mum and DH both want me to get a brand new one but it seems in great condition (seen pics) and my feeling is to get a better one 2nd hand :) BUT will take a bit of persuading dh to let me go and look at it. any advice ladies?

That is the buggy i had for LO, it was absolutely fab, i can highly recommend it! I sold it on ebay after about 3 1/2 years, and i can honestly say it was still in great condition after loads of use.

    Morning all

I've finished the deep spring clean of DS2's room - even those jobs I never do! Plan is to do the same to every room upstairs in April and all the rooms downstairs in May.

Ebayer been to collect the baby wardrobe so I'll put that cash towards unbed drawers.

Rach - I'd get the 2nd hand one. I think it is better to have a good qualilty second hand rather than a new poorer quality. Like the others have said not all babies take to pushchairs, mine did apart from DS2 who was very colicy and clinging for 6 months so the sling was in valuable!

Sandy hugs for you as you come to terms with the news and please don't stress too much about tomorrow, you have started down this road and are doing so well.

Shower and then a couple of outside jobs before the weather turns.

Sandy I know you are struggling at the moment......I am a lot further down that path.....so if I can help in any way I will try, sometimes you just need to talk to someone who isn't closely involved with you but understands the emotions x

Thanks. DH is busy right now but will work on him later. I know it's early days for me still but I just think I may as well get what I can sooner rather than later!

Thanks, they have offered as they did so for my sister, but the budget isn't unlimited of course! My feeling is get a 2nd hand but excellent condition one, then buy a new carrycot that fits it for when the baby is small! At the end of the day I'll be using it most of the time so I just need to work on dh, my mum won't make me do anything!

How about you go find a new one you want and go halves with your parents.. ?

A new one you can save for number 2 then :p

I found the baby bjorn the most uncomfortable torturous device ever.. the babys weight was heavily dumped on my shoulders leading to immense back pain.. as I said before.. I'd try a few before deciding on anything definite.

For ease of use and distribution of weight on the hips where it is meant to be carried found a wrap sling or the wilkinet best..

Hi all. Thank you so much for your kindness. Toots you are talking sense as always, I'm not going to tell my mum yet, she lives quite a long way away and she will just annoy me once she knows. Anyway I want to know exactly what it is first and take it all in before telling people.
DH is trying his best (He even cooked breakfast this morning) but we both deal with things in very different ways. He has gone to work now to "catch up"

    LadyL Thank you.

Thanks everyone for the lovely PM's too, it means a lot to know I have so much support. xx

Just to add rach you could always play the hormones card, burst into tears and tell OH you desperately want to see it. I got my own way a lot using that one;):rotfl:
