I have also seen a really good pushchair (mountain buggy) on netmums at a great price, my mum and DH both want me to get a brand new one but it seems in great condition (seen pics) and my feeling is to get a better one 2nd handBUT will take a bit of persuading dh to let me go and look at it. any advice ladies?
For a new born I think you need something with a matress as their little soft bones needs supporting- just my opinion. When I was looking for a pram for DD I was talking to a shop assistant and she was telling me that the travel systems the carseat part you shouldn't keep a newborn in for more than 2 hours because of their little bones. There is nothing wrong with getting a scond hand pram at all just check it over well as I'm sure you will. I spent my baby budget for all 3 of mine on prams, nappies and some white clothes. My aunt knitted and I had 1 cot for the three of them, ditto the swinging cradle. I'm so glad my aunt talked me out of buying lots of clothes (I started out with 10 white baby grows, 10 vests and bibs) as I was given so much it would have been a waste. I'm very jellous of you I loved picking out baby things!
I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
Hello everyone
Thank you for your good wishes and congratulations! strong painkillers are working out most of the muscle problems and I have been doing lots of stretching too! Managed to hoover the whole house and sort kitchen (how can one man make so much mess cooking pizza???). I find that I hurt more the second day after, not the next so my theory is, keep going, dont stop! Will walk hounds later.
Greenbee if we lived closer I would happily walk with you. All I can suggest to start is pick a route to begin with and then try and get faster at it. is it a marathon you are doing? (Cos I dont do running, more plodding!)
Sandy - now you have had the results you can sit down and think a bit more clearly about how you plan to take things and deal with them. Obviously I wish you all the best but the first part of not knowing is now over. DH probably does have his head in the sand but I am sure he will help you once he has got over his own shock. and you have us lot!
I was thinking earlier how much I would love cooked dinner today and wonderful m-i-l phoned - would we like roast chicken at hers later? Lush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats it for now
take care all
1 step xxxxxxxxxxxxIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome!0 -

Thats so odd, and just goes to show you should try them out with a sack of potatoes or something in them. I had a wilkinet with DD1 and it drove me mental, the ties kept slipping so it got lower and lower, and you couldn't get baby out of it and let them carry on sleeping, which you can with baby bjorn. Rach a warning that one size doesn't fit all!
Sounds like it wasn't fasten tight enough.. they do slip if they are tight.Dustykitten wrote: »I had a 2nd hand wilkinet and loved it. I would just lay the baby down in it when asleep just tucking the straps out the way.
That's what I did too.. mine slept for hours in mine.. and I used it constantly until they were maybe 10-11 months.Rach - I have minor back and shoulder problems and love the baby bjorn and hated slings because they really hurt me, DH too with his chronic problems was fine. Difficult isn't it? We also had a proper walking one for once they were over one that was great and fine on DH despite his problems. It is only since they have been to big for the carrier and old enough to have an opinion that we have a problem.
The BB was simply too big for me.. the straps would fasten tights enough, there was no support for the baby it just could easily flop out the side and if I bent over they would probably have slipped out the top!
I had an ergo which was too huge was well. I had an ancient clippasafe one for DS1 but he was simy too heavy to be lugged about and he loved the pushchair.
I ended up with the brightspark sling for Tiddles when she was a mini beast, then went to the wilkinet which I'd had for all 3 littlies.. then I got a storchie... and this was the only thing I kep as it was so wonderful I couldn't bear to part with it.
I have a wilkinet with extra long straps special for my rather tall OH..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

). It takes about twice as long as running it...
.I've got a 4 mile route and a 6 mile route from home that I can do regularly (haven't for the last couple of weeks due to being in the office), and hopefully will speed up now I have located and updated my ipod (need to get an armband).
I think I need to start running simply because there aren't enough hours in the day to do the miles I need (according to the training plan I've used in the past). We aren't worried about how quickly we finish, just finishing...
Upstairs hoovered. Need to re-hoover downstairs, then wash floors up and down. That way it might all be manageable next week ...0 -
Got a bit carried away then, started scrubbing a rocking chair and stool I am gonna be putting on ebay and stripped the seat cushion and scrubbed, (cat used it as a bed for a while so slebbery brown marks on it) but its clean as a whistle now so should be able to ask for at least another £10 for it

Not doing too well today fly wise, am suffering form teacher's weekend, the kind of tired out, cba and lethargy with added snuffles that you get when you've been hyper busy and stressed and then just stop for the hols. Dh is away at a stag do and itchy and scratchy are determined to get everything out and play with it in the sunshine!
Had plans to get lists done - and have scrubbed hob and oven and fridge out - but think I need a break for about a day to recover:pMortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170
