I found the baby bjorn the most uncomfortable torturous device ever.. the babys weight was heavily dumped on my shoulders leading to immense back pain.. as I said before.. I'd try a few before deciding on anything definite.

I'd agree with Pigpen here - I couldn't use the baby bjorn as I found it the most uncomfortable device known to man (or woman!). As mentioned it puts all the weight in completely the wrong place; in my case it was in my lower back and across my bra line. No amount of adjustment made a difference.

I tried again when I had DS, but couldn't get on with it. I managed to borrow a couple of different slings from my sister and they were much more comfortable. I don't use them now (DS is a year old and weighs 1.5st!), but I found them quite useful when he was much smaller.

It's definitely worth worth trying a few - the best place to do so is to find out if you have a sling meet local to you (website here), you'll get loads of advice on the most different types of sling - I'm not sure whether they all have a library, where you can borrow them for a time before deciding which one is the best for you.

If you're like me you'll end up with several!

Sorry for the non-flying related post, but just wanted to add my experience. It wasn't very MSE for us to spend £60 on a sling that was used less than half a dozen times.

It's been a glorious day here, so lucky.

Gardening jobs all achieved - will be starting the next list soon.

I've a massive pile of ironing to do and all 3 boys need to go in the bath straight after dinner.

You are a human dynamo today.
Not really... but it looks better written down :D Floors were revolting and they need to be washed several times (well, they really need scrubbing but I really CBA to do that).

Called the builder to tell him how lovely it all looks, so hopefully he's happy.

Thats great advice, Ishtar, I had never heard of a "sling meet". Maybe where your bra line is makes a difference, maybe its about one's physical make up.

Last comment on this from me, Rach is remember to stop carrying the babe in a sling before it starts hurting your knees/back. I carried on through force of habit, way too long, though still within the sling weight limit, and it killed my knees.

Both chldren bathed and deloused, wm on yet again, log baskets filled.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

I'd agree that it depends on your physical make up...I think that the taller you are, the more comfortable you may find the baby bjorn. (OH is a foot taller than me and had no problem with it)

I think sling meet is a fairly new thing...I only know about it because my sister is the sling librarian for our local group. She wore her baby until very recently - he's now 3 years old. Her view is that if you get the ideal sling it distributes the weight evenly and places no stress on any particular part of the body.

I stopped because DS has become very wriggly, too heavy (my stomach muscles are shot to bits after three pregnancies) and would much rather be in the pushchair, where all the ladies can see him (he's starting young!).

CBA to do anything else. Could be the wine...

Chicken in SC so will be ready by breakfast :p but at least it's cooking and I can deal with it tomorrow.

Need to put away clean laundry, then maybe have a bath and go to bed. Hopefully I'll get up at a sensible time tomorrow.
