I save all my change - 1s, 2s in one jar (with the odd bigger coin every now and then) fives in another.

I save the odd fiver here and there when I'm feeling 'rich'.

Then on a rainy day they get spent.

Theres too many rainy days these days - the benefit office keeps mucking up and not paying my benefit for one reason or another *growl*.

  • My 20p/10p coins go into my gallon whisky bottle... my £2 coins are in an old tin (see signature).

5p/2p/1p coins all go into an old pot marmalade jar and when it's full I bank it.

That just leaves £1/50p coins which are the ones I spend.

I take all my loose change to the post office (i bank with smile) and deposit it. I figure it's stupid keeping it in a piggy bank as it's not going to be earning interest. I have no shame in scabbing all my relatives pennys when they toss them on the side lol. One penny closer to being debt free...

I save all my coppers and 5p's for my daughter and we cash them in once a year for her holiday spending money. My Nana saves hers too for my DD and my Mum saves her 20p's for holiday spends - I think my DD ends up with more spending money than me :p We also collect money picked up off the street which goes into a seperate collection for treats - went to the cinema on the last lot :p
I am thinking of joining up the £2 coin collection club - when I am a bit more sorted ( which may mean never LOL )

I have a funny method, but it works. Everytime I 'break' into a £10 or £20note I put a £1 in my huge piggy (£4.00 at a car boot and she sits next to the washing machine for the pocket emptying routine !)
I started in May, first week in July she had £45 in pound coins alone, which paid for a couple of beach trips with the children.
Admittedly it's scarey how many notes I break into.....
Anyway she's the home for all my found in the street/prewash searching/ and generally most coppers, BUT by 12 year old has wised up to this and has two jam jars in his room filling them up with some speed. At least it's encoraging him :)

I've got a big plastic bud bottle that I put all shrapnel other than £1's and £12's in. Got about £120 in there at the mo. Might start putting £1's and £2's in there aswell!
  • i save loose change too, i have a tin (£1 shop) that i put my 5ps in and i have never counted it and i also have a blue piggy bank (£1 shop) that my 1ps and 2ps go into... the 5ps will be counted once full and i open the tin but the 2ps are going on holiday with me in a weeks time :j for the arcades :)...

... i also check my bank accounts daily (i have two linked ones and a linked isa) and if the two main accounts have any odds then they get transferred over to my isa :D i have quite a collection in that now...

... i then have my regular savings in my high interest accounts :T

Collected all the 1p and 2p and 5p and counted them last weekend 55 pounds collected and spent
  • I have collected my 5's 2's & 1's for a while now.
I have a set of scales that weigh in grammes, used mainly for cooking and a bit of e-baying postage rates.
So, I weigh my bags of coins, count it out once and make a note, then throw some into a bank bag & weigh them. Add a few or take a few out.

I always wanted to work in sweet shop weighing out 2oz's of cherry lips or floral gums. :o
