yep i have little jars around the house for the 1p's and 2p's we change them up in our local supermarket when in dire need of some cash, the supermarket has one of those penny counting machines that counts it all up for you.

I usually empty my change (anything below £1) every time I come home from work or anywhere else unless I know I'll need it the following day (e.g. parking) When there's a decent amount it's bagged up and the full bags are paid into my account, usually towards a treat of some sort.

I use a coin sorter (got mine from Argos at my lightbulb!) which is fab - I just chuck in change at the end of each day - I usually keep £1 & 50p's because I was finding that I was taking masses of cash out otherwise! I then try & bank money at end of the month - approx £44 a month so far! £2 is treat money (facial!) & the rest to savings...

I save the 1,2,5,10,20 in the kids moneyboxes. I then take these to the bank once a month for them. Doesn't matter whether it's the correct amount for the bags as they can desosit anything.

I've started saving my £2 now for the kids spending money on holiday.

I've bought one of those giant bottles that are money boxes from a charity shop (Cost me £2.99 - saw same style, but Carlsberg instead of my Budweiser one in woolworths for £6.99 :money: ) and all our coins under 20p go in it. DD (who's 5) puts her change in it, OH has just started putting his change in it this weekend and I've been putting mine in it for a few weeks now. Had to raid it to buy my brother a pressie mid-month and to pay for groceries so I wouldn't go into my overdraft but we did change £22 worth of coins so I'm happy :D Don't know what's in it now as I'm planning on leaving it for as long as I can and using it near Christmas either for pressies or a take-away ;)

  • 20p pieces go in a tin, everything from 10p and under goes into a HUGE vodka bottle that I got from the pub I work in, £2 coins go into a piggy and I mainly just spend 50ps and £1 coins!! Still save some £1 coins though as that is what the washing machine in my laundry room takes!!

Yeah, I save every cent that is left in my purse at the end of every day! Anything below 10c goes in one piggy and anything above goes in another! Only count the bigger coins though, the small ones are for complete emergencies, I've only ever raided it once since turning 16!

  • I save all my coins under 10p in a jar as well as my £2 coins.

Brass and 5ps take up too much space and are hardly ever needed.

    £2 coins are pretty!

WOW! Some great ideas on this thread!

    I save everything but 50p and £1's.

1p, 2p, 5p, 10p go into my moo cow piggy bank. I try and empty my purse weekly or more often, but often need smaller change for parking, etc.

I save my 20p coins in a fossil watch tin...don't know how much is there at the moment.

I save my £2 coins in my terramunid but forgot to count them before putting them in. So don't know how much in there at the moment! Also, if say someone has given me back money I have leant to them, (my mate gave me back £8 the other week for buying her lunch out *naughty naughty* when she had no money, so I put it all in the terramundi). Sometimes I chuck a few £1 coins in there esp if I've been given loads instead of a note in my change and I do recall adding a couple of fivers. A couple of months back I managed to save £60 in £2 (pre-terramundi) in just over a month - that went to pay a credit card though. I LOVE getting £2 coins!

Don't know what i'm saving it for though...
