I don't, but i'm now thinking i should - I have one of my mums in the cupboard which I remember her wearing (I think she gave it to me when I was cooking xmas dinner one year) - usually just have an old jumper and joggers on anyway so (esp given said jumper is currently also covered in paint) any food splashes aren't the end of the world.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Why not wear a rubber gloves and an apron to do the cleaning and washing up to help protect your hands and clothes. Is the housecoat style still available with sleeves to help cover the arms as well ?0

I really, really should. I've countless sweatshirts and jumpers with immovable stains and bleached strips across the front.

I have 4 aprons, and a housedress, and always wear gloves for washing up and cleaning.Loving the sunny days!0

I have several aprons and use them when I am cooking and baking. I always manage to wipe my floury hands on my clothes and at least the apron protects them.0

When I am cooking or baking, I wear an apron.
When I am washing dishes, I wear an apron, rubber boots and rubber gloves.
When I am washing clothes by hand, I wear a rubber apron, rubber gloves and rubber boots. I also wear goggles, as bleach could be dangerous to the eyes.
When repotting flowers, I just wear an apron over my clothes.
When painting (my hobby), I wear a disposable plastic apron.
When cutting my younger sisters hair, we both wear matching stylist aprons.
When cleaning, I always wear the rubber apron and rubber gloves. When washing the floor, I always wear boots.
For all these jobs I also wear a baseball cap and my hair in a ponytail. I also always, regardless of the apron, tie my bow in the back. It looks more professional.
For what jobs do you others wear aprons at home?
After the dishwasher leaked I wore wellington boots and rubber gloves to do the washing up.Why get wet feet ?0 -
yes - when people call at the door they think you are a busy bee and won't detain you-yes I do wear one -always wiping my hands when working in the kitchen especially x:hello::coffee:Penny Pincher in training

I wear an apron to wash up. As otherwise I have a soggy area across my front & that can get dashed chilly. For cooking? No, but I tend to wear 'chuck in the wash' clothes not 'hand wash & iron carefully' - I change into those later...
(I have a special wardrobe for painting in, which includes a shemagh wrapped around my head so thoroughly that it holds the goggles in place, and my overalls which are exactly as the name suggests, soundly abused and marked & patched but ye gods they save me hours avoiding harsh chemicals in the shower later.)
My grandmother had "sleeves" for washing up/housework in, to protect from wrist to above elbow. Even aged 6 I thought that a bit odd, but her choice.
For the right garb to open the door in & not be fussed at? Well, yes, apron & suds are certainly one possibility.0 -

Good plan. Or if it's someone you don't mind seeing, you can start undoing your pinny and say you were just about done! My best one was going to the door with a small sharp knife in my hand and blood on my hand. I had been trimming some liver.
