  • I have a selection... but then, I teach cooking in school for 50% of my timetable, so live in one half the time - and when I'm not wearing my cooking apron, I'm wearing my woodworking overcoat... I'm a naturally messy person too, they're handy things!

  • I need to wear an apron when cooking if only to prevent grease marks on my clothes. I have a pink yummy mummy one that my DD's got for me one mothers day, 3 Christmas ones and half a dozen that MIL gave to me including a striped butchers apron. Mil has also bought me a new on this Christmas with plates and cutlery all over it. No one else wears then in this house but I think that they are great.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

I've been wearing full-bib ones since my mid-twenties, which all my friends had a good laugh at, but me being naturally messy it was a necessity. I have 3 everyday and 2 Christmas ones made of cotton for cooking/baking etc and 2 vinyl ones, both for cleaning (one of those specifically for the bathroom only). I wouldn't dare chance ruining my clothes without one!

Just use an old tea towel or hand towel.

But here's the thing....I wear it backwards..yes, I have a terrible habit of wiping my hands on my backside when cooking. Awful, I know, but that's why I wear a tea towel across my rear end!

Works for me, and I never seem to get anything splashed on my front. Mad isn't it?

I have a pvc apron that matches my portmeirion stuff in the kitchen that I use for cooking when making something like spag bog as if get splash it wipes without staining and then I have a tab apron that I use for cleaning and other cooking. The tab style is cotton and can be washed regularly and often goes in with the teatowels etc.

Hands up... I'm a pinny wearer too.

Have been since I started cooking many moons ago...... I usually have the over the head, tie at the back big pocket on the front sort which you can dry your hands on and wash.

Had a look at the Ulsters Weavers website and some of the aprons look luverly. But, am going to be good and wait for my birthday in March and put my request in to DH otherwise I will have a bash at making my own. It cant be that hard!!

An apron defo keeps you clean and puts you in the right frame of mind for the task at hand.:D
