MummyandP - I think you should make sure that he goes for you own peace of mind. You have worked flat out on this challenge to make a better life for yourself and your family. Technically it is not your responsibility, but as you know that he won't face up to things on his own. Push him even if if takes you going too.
I know that you are sick of picking up the slack, I have a visa and passport for Slackville - so I know the frustration of constantly sorting out the OH's mess/messes. But, for the sake of your own family and finances - it is too important to trust him to do this on his own.
Hope that doesn't sound hard, honey.
    Hugs

MandP - I would still get advice from CAB. Just worried that if you send forms back and then dispute it once you get the figures it may not look as good as disputing from the start if that makes sense. At the very least you could include a covering letter or comment on the form to say that you are taking advice from CAB as you have been making payments under the private agreement. That you understand she might want the private agreement to end and for a CSA agreement to take its place but you are unhappy for that to be backdated.
I would try CAB yourself about the whole situation. They may be able to offer you help with certain aspects and tell you what help they can offer OH and what he will need to do in order to access it.
I know its hard work but having an idea about what support is available may make waiting for CSA reply easier or give you some info about waht sort of info you need to be gathering to dispute it.

    MandP,
I don't know what to say really. Can I ask what the child thinks about it all? My eldest DD is turning 12 in June and lives with her mother and new step father. I don't get as much access as I would like but when it comes to CSA, I've always stood firm and said that is the only way to get money from me. I of course give my DD additional cash/pocket money/gifts etc directly but as for her mother, nothing. We rarely even speak to each other and that suits me just fine.
I fought for 3 years to get access in court but it means I can now prove to my DD what steps I have taken.
My DD and I don't have the best relationship but she does understand what I can do and what her mother is stopping me from doing.
Now I know that is completely different from your situation, but if you could see if his DS is willing to make some sort of statement to support his dad that will go a long way.
Does OH know the other fathers? Is she fleecing them in the same manner? I'm just looking at ways to support your case by weakening hers.
CAB will be a good starting place, I would also get him to look at fathers for justice, it's not all about spiderman costumes and protests, there is a lot of help out there.

  • HI mummyandpaige
I think you will have to get legal advice about this
The csa drained my ex dry as well, the poor man has worked hard all his life and always paid his way, my 2 eldest daughters are his, what happened, due to circumstances I was on income support a few times in between jobs, and they took him for thousands,I really dont belive we had that much money for the time I was claiming,I also think he ended up paying for all of us including my new partner and child,
The csa wrote to me and said he owed me about £5,000 I told them I didnt want it and I was making arrangements with him to pay me direct, they still made him pay them £16,000 he has only finished paying last year and it crippled him for years ,I feel so guilty he had to pay that,he said, if me and the kids had got the money he wouldnt have minded but the government got it
I think he should have gone to a lawyer but he didnt, they were threatening to take his truck which he needed as he lived miles from anywhere on a farm, and to jail him. This is a disgrace,he is a nice man who hasnt broke the law, when others who have are getting away with crimes. Also if I had not claimed benefits they wouldnt have cared about getting money
Also if your ex is threatening you or abusive they dont have to pay either. It isnt fair its not accross the board
What this woman has done is disgraceful;,you shouldnt have given her a bean without proof, this is the type of woman who gives single parents a
bad name,Is she or has she been claiming benefits,if she has she shouldnt have been getting any money from you, as its taken from her benefits and she has to declare it
If you carnt afford a solicitor you can get advice from CAB,if you can find any reciepts for anything you have bought look them out
How were you giving the money was it cash or have you transfered money to her account as that would be proof
Could you sell the boat to a relative you trust or something so its safe till this is sorted, then buy it back for a few quid
Hope you get sorted please get some advice
