Mines always switched off unless I need to run something.
Never have problems cold booting PC's, My MacBook does it in around 40secs and my Win 7 PC in around 50secs. It shouldn't take minutes.0 -

Unless it's a server, then it takes forever lol
I need to put an SSD disk in my PC, takes about 20 secs to boot up and I hate itOwner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

my pc is always off when it isnt used and as much as i hate "the news of the world" paper, their offer last week for the computer plug was really invaluable, whilst i pretty much always turn my pc off i always forget about my monitor, those little led's still use enrgy :P so yeah, having it turn off when the pc is off really helps to save electricity.
since i pay up front for my energy i REALLY dont like leaving things on that i have to pay for and im not using, the energy i'd save by not having it on is far better used by say, the fridge/freezer, which always have to be on.
theres argument people use about leaving the a pc on all the time uses less energy than having to start up and shut down a pc, this is true in the sence that for 1 minute the energy used to turn on a pc is higher than the continuous running of a pc for 1 minute. however, you cant argue that just turning it on uses more energy than having it running (which is the common argument) leaving a pc on for 24 hours is not going to use less energy than just turning on my pc... or am i missunderstanding that common argument for leaving a pc on all the time?0 -

ahh - the boot up - its looking like the PC equivalent of the 0-60 time  Don't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -

2GB Ram, Dual Core AMD and an IDE HDD. It's probably less in reality but I'm too impatient to wait.
I've got a SATA HDD but it's crap and takes longer to boot. I actually think it's busted too
Bit annoying, my IDE drive is my good "old faithful" I've had it about 6 years with temps around 60-70c and it keeps on taking it
I'm putting the main PC into a Zalman1000GS case as it's getting ar too hot (case is like 3 years old with 1 fan)
I'm then building a server rack and chucking in a few 1u/2u setups for some custom builds at a datacentre
before all that I'm going to get a fire extinguisher
safety isn't my middle name

Most PC's I've seen posting around 20sec times already have SSD's with Top End Processors in them.

I regularly turn off my PC, it loads up in about 25 seconds with Windows 7 and it's not exactly a high end PC either.0
