New Forum Changes Request

OK folks. I am going to start a thread to look at changes to the forum that need making.

Please keep them as brief as possible and most importantly

PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD CLEAR OF 'I AGREES', IF SOMEONES MENTIONED YOUR SUGGESTION, THERE'S NO NEED TO REPEAT IT

Sorry for the above, but it's anightmare to pile through loads of posts, i want to keep this as pure as possible

can we have avatars back please .................but only if it doesn't slow the site ....................maybe the avatar in profiles can be removed to balance it out:)

Being able to change your name to a screen or display name rather than the default registered one would be good, like you were able to do on the old forum.

Perhaps a slightly larger selection of smilies to cover more situations - I've seen other forums running vBulletin 3 that have quite a lot more to choose from so it should be able to be done.

2) Can pictures not related to subjects such as an item for sale be relegated to the fun threads? Not that I don't like them, but maybe in the pub section?

3) A thread for folks who are very new to the internet and computers? I know there are some fantastic technicians on the site, but there are still some people that don't understand the very basics.

4) Please can we have what I asked for in 1) ?

Sofa_Sogood - if you have a question then don't be shy - post it in the Techie section and see what happens. There is also a techie terms thread on there if you want to know what something means.

It'd be a shame if the calendar is only used for official announcements.

You could give some trusted users permission to edit it - e.g. I'm sure there are users who make it their business to know in advance when a shop’s going to have a sale, eBay free listing days, or other important financial deadlines.

You could have a prominent link on the main site and give people who don't use the forum a reason to visit more often as they can find out this week's moneysaving
