This could not happen in the uk because the only way for a maternal recipient of the sperm to be able to obtain the donors information is when the child is 18 then te chilld can get hold of that information no other way. So litigatation is not an issue from that point of view.

You are thinking of anonymous donations through a clinic. In the case in Sweden, and the one in the UK, the donor and the recipient knew each other and the agreement was a private one between them.

I wasn't in smug mode, I am never smug, I hate smug and smug people.

I was in annoyed mode. Annoyed with someone who didn't read the posts. They had just skimmed through and spotted something they could be smug about and thought they could prove someone else wrong.

I wasn't annoyed that they were trying to be smug, I was annoyed at them not reading the information in front of them and getting hold of the wrong end of the stick. Most of the crap written on the web is written by people who are just repeating what they have read, but they didn't actually read it properly so have repeated it completely wrong.
