So if there is a difference in picture is there a specific box that is better than the other i.e. Pace better than Samsung etc?
I don't know but I had a fiddle with my Samsung last night and have changed the contrast in the settings page to high from medium. Not sure if it's slightly better now or just my imagination. The HD is fine it's just the SD isn't as good as I get from my other appliances.

I've read this on another forum too, some people are complaining that their standard picture isn't as good although some are saying it is better, makes you wonder if it's worth bothering with

Oh poooo! I just bought a second hand sky+ box on ebay. Its saying i have to upgrade to sky+ to record, i have slways had a standard box.

Does anyone know if i have to pay more for this 'priviledge'? Just emailed sky as the phone calls to sky are costing me too much! But they always seem to take a few days to reply, so any help would be helpful :D

The sky+ sub is free however you need 2 feeds from your sky dish to the box in order to watch one channel while recording another. You also need to phone sky to pair your card with the new box otherwise it won't work, nothing simple I'm afraid, I think you also have to let sky know that you want the + function

Same here, My mum's old box picture was pants but now with the new completely free HD box both standard and HD pictures are great.

She also got the multiroom too for £5 a month rather than the £10 she was prepared to pay thanks to a letter she got saying she could get multiroom lite for £5 a month
