I tried the weekly housekeeping thing, but I have too many things aside from groceries, eg skiing, football training, bus fares, etc to make it that simple.

We shall see how it gets on - so far so good......I am still on track after 24 hours :rotfl:

Well done to you! My lovely friend was over today and she has offered to take me to Asda on payday. I am wildly excited as I love Asda and it will save me ordering online and getting meat with 1 day to go before it's best before date!!!

It might be a bit simplistic, but my friend used to just have 4 - Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4.

She'd work out how much cash was left in the account after bills, then withdraw the total amount to spend for herself and food, then divide that between 4 (or 5 I guess if it's a 5 week month).

It really did work for her, as she said "when it's gone, its gone". I really do need to adopt that level of discipline. I have far too many "just nip to the shop for x" and spend 30 quid.

I hereby pledge I WILL sign up to do my version of the envelope system and will start next Friday on payday!

TO be honest this month i have become poor and crap with money! I might try the week thing, At the moment I have no plan, just go through the bank acc until empty.

My money should go bus money(12), driving lessons(44), lunch shopping(30) Guinea pig shopping(5?), fish shopping(depends its about 50 every so often) night out shopping(£?), clothes, presents, christmas, tax, union fees, savings, weddings, garden, DIY, boiler,

*goes off to meal plan, jam and pasta sauce based food for the jars.*
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Right, have made a meal plan for the next fortnight. almost exclusively out of things in the cupboards and freezer. Just need some peppers, courgettes and mushrooms which won't cost much (am growing my own but some way off harvesting yet!) so that is another job well done.

Blimey, Hypno. We are DEFINITELY sending you to sort out the country once your debt is sorted: you'd probably turn the contents of the stationary cupboards in Number 10 into armour and rocket launchers for the troops abroad, and still have enough paper clips left over to do the job as well! :rotfl:

    Morning.

    **rubs sleepy eyes**

My DD is 16 today. So I am taking a half day and we are going for something to eat courtesy of the Mr T vouchers that arrived last week, and then off to Newmarket for the races this evening, followed by the X Factor finalists doing a concert. DD loves Jedward and all their cheesiness so hopefully she will enjoy it!

We are going to the family area, so can take a picnic, which is fab as the food and drink at the races is very expensive. And of course I have allowed a small amount of betting money in my envelope system.......:D

I hope you all have a good day - off to bank and scratch ;)

And it still looks "tired" - rather like its owner! But a bucket of polyfilla, and some fresh paint will make all the difference there.
