I suppose that they hope nobody phones up to complain so that they get away with it.0

Its not the end of the world, I am paying for my windows on it so that I get the guarantee if anything goes wrong, so it just means there is £25 less to pay when I move things about later.
Would just have rather seen that £25 in my current account, that's all, as I budget right down to the wire at this time of the month.

When virgin did that to me it only took a couple of days after I phoned them for it to be back in my account.
Watch for their next trick as well...I cancelled my DD after paying them off and they had a cheek to charge £12 the following month due to a failed DD..idiots that they are.
Yep, did that to me too. They did credit it back immediately. I do think that they do it in the hope people dont notice. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. And they once charged me £12 because I paid too early! Chuh.
Hope the windows look good, how exciting, I love all things domestic......

The windows that have been done look fab, inside and out. Four big windows to be done tomorrow and I am really looking forward to seeing it when I come home from work tomorrow. The old windows were full of condensation and you could hardly see out of them - the benefit being that no one could see the chaos inside when they walked past.
Of course, now, when they look in my dining room window as they stroll past, they can see all the way through the house  Flylady needs to pay a visit this week I think!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Brilliant! Literally.....I had those fogged up panes all fixed too - we are south facing which and by the sea which plays havoc with them

Yup, the old windows really were/are horrific and no way of sorting them out - it is going to make the house so so much brighter - as you say, brilliant  We are on a corner plot, with almost all the windows getting sun, so they really have been suffering from exposure for the last 20 years. They've not done so badly, I suppose, given that they would never have been expensive ones in the first place. The new ones will certainly do the job while I decide what I want to do next, and while I save up for future chapters of my life!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. yeah to new windows:beer:
we have had a quote to replace some windows that have condensation and also another one that is just secondary glazed as part of our big building plan the quotes were £3200 and £2600 and I liked the second people better they made some good suggestions and also offered a quote just to replace the glass in the fogged up windows which the others didn't even mention so I guess we will be going with the second guys, think we have found a good builder too waiting for his quote, then need to price up flooring and chase kitchen man for quote for rearranging the kitchen and then we should have all the figures we need and then we will see ifwe can actually have the work done
Hadn't heard about the CB won't affect us yet as little ones will be five next month but will still be a loss to the budget in due course not really surprised though

I'm not getting all the windows done this time round - due to cost - but am getting the main ones. So still to do will be 3 smaller bathroom windows plus the front door and the attached side windows. The back door and kitchen windows have already been replaced when we put the new kitchen in several years ago, so they are fine. It will cost me another £2k to finish the job off, but that can wait until next year's bonus......but it will be an investment worth making should I sell up and move at any time.
The main thing is trying have maximum improvement for minimal cost! The garden has already made a difference to the look and feel of the place, and the windows will make a phenomenal difference, both to the look of the place but also on a "value" basis.
Next I will go back to planning the redecorating, as that can be done for £50 a room or so with the right paint, and again can freshen the place up. The boiler was replaced 4 years ago, so is fine, and the flooring downstairs was replaced at about the same time when we had a kitchen flood, so again, in good condition.
If I carry on decluttering, (which happens from time to time and not often enough) I think I will have a home that I enjoy being in, and which is also more of an asset than it has been in the past. Both those things are worth the effort!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. That sounds like a real good way of doing things...0
