Hi Hypno, does your employer do an annual travel ticket loan - interest free of course? My son found out his employer offered this benefit after mentioning to his manager that he didn't have enough money to buy his usual monthly saver ticket...

My employer has an environmental day in July, with free bacon butties if we bike/walk to work. The hope being that we will use these greener commute options after finding it doesn't take much longer than the stop-start drive.

Worth asking about, and perhaps pursuing through a staff consultative committee?

Cheers from your lurking admirer, Satchmo

I have asked about a season ticket loan, but not had a response - will ask again. Most in my firm have no need for one - being rural, most of us have to travel in by car, as people live so far away, and country buses and trains don't tend to oblige! I am really lucky in having a bus service that works around office hours.....and will ask again about it.

As for a "staff consultative committee"......we are far too old fashioned for that. You ask the boss....or the boss's son, and see where it gets you :rotfl:

  • Lovely about the windows Hypno- i have been distinctly slovenly this year regarding windows. I am hoping not cleaning them will keep them in the wall- dirt being a good adhesive and all that :)

My windows are always rotten, although the rest of the house is not! Just a job I can't be bothered with!

Mine had got to the point where it became a "need" rather than any sort of "want".....especially if I want to sell this place in the next couple of years.

I am sure they will have added more in value than they have cost, so I am happy to have had them done - plus, it just makes such a huge difference!
