sorry for my rant SSA, but it was one of the most annoying things when i was an examiner to make enquireis from banks, solicitors etc and come up against a wall of sorry the DPA means that i cant tell you, after which a lesson in the DPA usually had to take place before the information was released.

Because the DPA is not a coverall which says that nobody is allowed to know anything about you, it is one of the most misunderstood pieces of legislation. What it is meant to do is to classify the information and decide who has access to what, not just to deny all information flow. There are many exemptions in the DPA, one of which is to allow the release of information where it is required by any other Act of Parliment. Therefore because the IA1986 requires that it be published this is allowed.
Not the words i would use, more a very cleverly written piece of legaslation, that allows those in power that need it to, make it mean anything they want it to

I was wondering about this too. Is there anyone on here who came up previusly on a google search but now no longer does?It would be interesting to know, the people on here that have been bankrupt for a long time for instance 3 years from the bankruptcy date, If they google themselves now does it still come up or does it get archived at any point and so you would have t go to the Gazette site to find out0 -
Yep, me. I used to come up mid-BR , not early BR but before my BR expired I suddenly wasn't coming up and haven't been since.0

Well that makes me happier then. I'm thinking about going self employed next year (summer 2011) and would very much be using my name to promote myself, so would feel much happier knowing that any potential customers googling for my website won't come across anything about me being BR on Google.Yep, me. It wasn't just my name though. Any part of my address bought me up too. If you could have your working address elsewhere, then most people wouldn't put it and your name/BR address together anyway.0
